Dreams about flying

Do you dream about flying? This picture I found on the internet almost exactly pictures the dream I had last night. The only real difference was that I was in a flatter position, with my arms below me as though I was cupping air, and I was de-arched instead of arched like this woman is.

That could easily be because I have more than 64 hours of accumulated time in freefall (being a skydiver and all), and if you need to gain altitude in relation to someone else you are skydiving with, you need that de-arched body position.

Thinking of my dream, I can very clearly see myself taking off from the ground by pushing hard on the air with my arms and gaining altitude, until I reached about a first-story height off the ground. And when I woke up from the dream, it reminded me that I have dreamed this before. After gaining some height above the ground, I lazily flew around in a very serene manner, looking down at the trees and pushing through gossamer clouds. I landed a couple of times and took off again, I think to confirm that I really could fly any time I wanted.

In looking for a picture, I found several websites about lucid dreaming where people decide to dream about flying, and lots of pictures, but this one certainly reminded me of the feeling I had. I think I have pictures of myself in freefall in almost exactly that position, but with one major difference: I had a parachute system on my back! And shoes and a jumpsuit. Well, there WAS that one time I did a naked jump, but I won't talk about that right now...

  1. I wonder what's weirder? Hiking with a cat in your backpack or sky diving naked. Maybe I just gave you another idea for your "bucket" list. Sorry, I don't mean to imply that you are anywhere near the end!

  2. Dreams of flying are the best! I've read that if we dream we are flying it means we are in a good place within ourselves.
I laughed my you know what off when I read the part about your skydiving naked...for real??
Oh my!! giggles and belly laughs on this post! Thanks.

  4. Lol - naked jumping. Now that has to be a whopper of a story. I think I would be in a panic if I were to dream about this. My fear of heights would turn it into a nightmare.
I love the new look and header.

  5. I have had dreams of almost flying, it was more like really big jumping with very little gravity. I have had several dreams like that, and I love them. So freeing.

Naked jumping? I can't imagine. I think my boobies would get sucked right up under my armpits and be flapping in the air behind me...

  6. I had a dream about flying when I was about four years old, and I could remember the sensation for many years after that. I can still picture it, but I haven't tried to feel the soaring. Good project for some night when I can't sleep!

  7. As a kid, I used to dream I was superman--does that count?

  8. My Mom told me that if we dreamt of flying it means we would travel to distant places that we have never been before. I am wishing for that someday.

Okay naked jumping is another story DJ, tell me about it. Haha.

  10. I've never heard of nude skydiving, are you sure it wasn't a dream?

  11. The new background is wonderful. Flying? No way...terrified of heights. While nude, maybe when I was younger, firmer and thinner. lol

  12. Unless I write my dream as soon as I get up, they usually fade away quite quickly. The pale fuchsia flower in your header is lovely.

  13. I don't remember my dreams anymore. When I was a teenager, I would always dream of falling in space, which was frightening.

As for flying in the nude? Never. But I did dance nude in the rain once. Never again! LOL.

  14. Oh please do! :-)

I had a dream not long ago that I could rise up to the ceiling, come down, and repeat as often as I liked. Not quite flying, but close.

  15. The flying dreams are always fun. In mine I tend to soar and I don't remember the take off or landing just sort of floating along.

Naked? That must have been some dream. Love the flower in your new header.

  16. Well, I dream of flying but never knowingly fly on my own.

The flowers will be putting out pollen. I do have asthma and emphysema so my days are numbered. So to speak.

  17. I have vivid dreams, but I don't think I've ever had a flying dream. I wonder if some of it does have to do with skydiving. I like the idea that it means you're in a good place within yourself. I have a lot of dreams with violence. Wonder what that means...

  18. Sometimes I remember my dreams and sometimes I don't. I have dream about falling but not flying. Naked hun??

  19. I remember childhood dreams of flying horizontally over residential neighborhoods, at maybe between 50 and 75 feet of altitude, sort of a Peter Pan style of flying, but without all the fancy flips and stuff.

And for some reason I've had lots of dreams where I can jump really far, extremely long jumps after a running start. It's sort of like flying in the sense that you can delay the landing for several seconds (and for dozens of extra yards).
