Remembering my Tuesday post

Front porch flowers this morning
Hey, I remembered to write a blog post today! I know it's not a big thing to anybody else, but it was to me. Last week I remembered late on Wednesday, way too late to be of any use. These are my front porch flowers just now, showing the still-brown front lawn (we got little to no rain when it poured in Seattle).

I woke this morning to haze so thick that I could not see the sunrise. Our air quality has deteriorated from fires north of us in British Columbia, as well as fires burning on the eastern side of the Cascade and spilling over here. It's not possible to exercise outside today, with air quality ranging from unhealthy to dangerous. Tonight, however, we might get a little bit of relief from a weak marine push. We can only hope.
Today's lunch
I also wanted to show off my wonderful salad, with almost everything coming from the garden, other than some brown rice mixed with hummus. I shredded zucchini, chopped kale, and added cucumbers and tomatoes. All from the garden! This is not exactly a low calorie salad; I added it all up and it's just under 400 calories (371), but boy is it good!
:-)

  3. It's fun to use produce from your own garden.
While we are not bothered by the smokey air, and therefore don't restrict our time outside, and do have our doors and windows open, I know that many are threatened by this dirty air. Sure would like to see it blown out of here, and more importantly, get some real rain to douse those fires.

  9. Your slad sound great! Your flowers are looking good, and the lawn will survive:0 We still have a haze here no sunshine today but our air quality was better.
Chance is still hanging in there, he is a bit better this evening. He ate some boiled rice and hamburger and asked for more rice so he got more rice...that was 5 hours ago and so far so good. :)

  10. Rain has been scarce around here all summer, although our lawns are not as brown as yours, the flowers and gardens have suffered. Your porch flowers are beautiful and colorful, and that salad looks delicious.
    Fingers crossed for more rain.

  14. Didn't know about the BC fires. You are surrounded. Sure hope you and all the drought areas get some needed rain. The north east could really spare you some.
    Salad looks great and healthy.
