Now I'm home with no plans for the rest of the day, except to enjoy a nice light salad for dinner later on, with the requisite wine of course, and then trying to deal with the sound of the fireworks this evening. I can see the ones in Bellingham Bay from my back porch, if I want to see them as well as hear them. Although they are not supposed to be firing off those screamers and boomers inside the city limits, it doesn't seem to matter to the enthusiasts. I just hope nobody gets hurt this year.
My friend Ronni got the results from the pathology from the Whipple procedure she had done: the margins were clear around the diseased part of the pancreas they removed, no sign of it spreading in the surrounding tissues, but two of seventeen lymph nodes that were removed were positive for cancer cells. She's trying to deal with it and figure out her next options, while she recovers from that massive surgery. I just wish there were something I could do, other than commiserate and hope for the best. She's blogging about it all over at Time Goes By.
My raspberries are abundant and needing to be picked every day now. I was glad to find that a cup of raspberries only has around 70 calories. I've been eating quite a few while I'm picking. Every once in awhile I'll find one a little overripe, and the sweetness just melts in my mouth. Yum! I'll be spending some more time today out there weeding and enjoying my garden. And thinking about my country's Independence Day. I hope you have a great day!
