Happy birthday breakfast |
This morning I went on a walk with my friend Lily instead of joining the ladies. Lily has been sick and missed three days of work, just before her birthday. She had hoped to take Thursday off to enjoy a laid-back birthday, but since she's missed so much work she cannot. Therefore, she and I took an easier walk along Boulevard Park from downtown to Fairhaven's
Colophon Cafe, where I treated her to a portabella "muff-egg" breakfast sandwich. I had the same, and it was quite lovely. This cafe is two-and-a-half miles away, so once we finished our breakfast, we walked back the way we had come and logged a nice five-mile stroll.
For the record, my friend Ronni Bennett at
Time Goes By is now back home after that awful surgery for pancreatic cancer. I consider it to be quite a feat to be well enough to get home in just over a week. She's still got a long recovery, but I am hoping that the news will be good from her surgical team, and that I'll be able to rejoice with her this time next year. Anyhow, whatever the future brings, she's got an incredible posse of well-wishers at her back, of which I am one.
:-)
Well I hope Ronni has a full recovery and the surgery was successful too.
