Another beautiful Saturday

Scarlet runner beans climbing the fence
I took this picture from outside our garden fence, hoping you can see the scarlet runner beans in bloom. These are in Hedi's garden spot, because the ones over in my area don't receive anywhere the same sun, and they are lagging behind. In any event, I am thrilled because they will soon start putting out seed pods. At least I think so; I've never grown them before. The bees and hummers sure do seem to like them.

Thirteen of us ladies walked five miles this morning, enjoying the cool breeze and mild temperatures. By midweek, we'll be sweltering along with the rest of the country, so we're happy to enjoy it now. We had coffee together and then went our own ways. Lily and I went to the Farmers' Market and enjoyed a pizza together.
Just right for two people
I think we could have finished one of these each, but it was sure nice to have someone to share it with, or I would now be very full indeed. I'm home now and thinking about how to spend the rest of my beautiful sunny Saturday. Now that my regular Saturday post is finished, I'll settle in for awhile with my latest book. Hope you are staying comfy and cool yourself!
:-)

  6. Hummers do love red flowers. You should be able to attract them with those cool beans!
We went for a walk this morning, and since then I have nothing but take it easy. I sat and read in four different places in my garden. I studied and then filled out my ballot. I took a two hour nap!!! Now we're getting ready for a dinner of left overs and then a Sounders match from LA on TV. Perfect day!

  8. The pizza is making my stomach growl an I just ate, so what's up with that? Congrats on your morning walk...you inspire me. I am seeing a chiroprator next week about my plantar fasiatis hoping to get back to my normal 6-10 miles a day instead of 2-3..which as you know is the distance between the fridge and the couch! But seriously, ai m much, much better and I hope I can get my heel healed.

  9. DJan, seeing pictures of your garden always makes me wish we belonged to a community garden. There are 3 close by - but I think they are all connected to the churches. I should really check this out one day.
Your pizza looks good. Looks like basil and mozzerella cheese!

  11. Your garden is coming along. Can't wait to see your first bean harvest. I heard some heat is coming your way. We have dropped into the delightful low 90's--almost sweater weather--seriously.

  14. Dear DJan, what is your latest book? I read mysteries and so I'm reading a Linda Fairstein along with a nonfiction book on the Battle of the Somme.

Five miles! Wow. I can only pull off about 1/3 of a mile right now but I'm hoping to slowly add more to my morning walk. Peace.
