Familiar viewpoint |
Today, eleven Happy Wanders in the Senior Trailblazers group, met at the Senior Center to arrange carpooling up to Chanterelle trail. It is a harder hike than last week's and it was shown by the smaller numbers of hikers who showed up: ten fewer than last week! I was, of course, happy with the smaller number, since we were able to visit with most everyone as the morning proceeded. Lots of sunshine and our neophyte leader, Marilyn, set a good pace as we covered the miles to the viewpoint.
Today's trillium treats |
We not only saw trillium, but also lots of fiddlehead ferns emerging from the ground, and some pretty purple bleeding hearts just beginning to flower. Lots and lots of green and gentle breezes and a mild temperature made it easy for us to enjoy our morning delights.
On the trail |
We enjoyed a leisurely stop at the viewpoint, and then made our way back down to the trailhead and the cars. It was another quite wonderful outing for the Happy Wanderers, and the weather could not have been more perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, just a light welcoming breeze. Five miles, and good ones, too.
:-)
Really lovely, DJan. 🙂

ReplyDeleteI am so very happy for you - and all your companions.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your spring walks with your photos of the wild flowers.
ReplyDeleteDo you sing the Happy Wanderer song as you hike? The idea amuses me.
ReplyDeleteI love that view of this trail. Well done, Jan,
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy smaller numbers too. Looks like it was a fun outing... nature, good weather, and friends.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the trillium.
ReplyDeleteI think it would make a big difference as to who is leading the group because of the pace they set. Sounds like a good hike! :)
A wonderful outing indeed and I love that name ... Happy Wanderers.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing PNW hike. I'm intrigued that you mention the social benefit; it's important at our age!
