Needles and electric currents |
This was not my first adventure with needles. When I lived in Boulder, Colorado, I went to a Chinese acupuncturist for several sessions to deal with menopausal symptoms. He also managed to fix up some other issues I had. He didn't speak any English and his wife (who was only intermittently available) translated for him. It was an experience that convinced me that this treatment is invaluable for all kinds of physical issues.
Today's visit wasn't fun exactly, but I rather enjoyed it nevertheless. I could actually carry on a conversation with my acupuncturist, and I have made appointments for the next six weeks and am looking very much forward to them. Since I won't be hiking on Thursday this week, I will see him then, and once a week thereafter until my appointments run out. I got a deal for signing up ahead of time. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
:-)
Yowza! My husband is a physical therapist. He does dry needling. Supposedly I am the only patient he has had that has ever cried or moaned after being stuck with needles. I suspect it has something to do with my vaso vagel issue. (I am squeamish/I pass out easily). You are a brave soul. Hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteI hope to learn just what exactly this treatment is supposed to do for you, and then whether or not it works.
ReplyDeleteI do hope it helps. I have to give myself injections every second day so I am not needle phobic (except for injections into the eye). I have heard LOTS of good things about acupuncture.
ReplyDeleteAcupuncture works. I hope your issues are resolved.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I had acupuncture from my physiotherapist and alongside specific exercises it worked a treat to get me back hiking again.
ReplyDeleteI've never had this done before, but my sister has and she said it didn't work for her. We now both go to get adjustments with a chiropractor. I think it's all mind over matter for the indivdual; what works for some won't for others.
ReplyDeleteReminds me to get my pedicure stuff out & get my glow in the dark polish applied for Halloween! Pretty red nails D J!

I've never done acupuncture before.
ReplyDeleteBack in the 80s my aunt and I tried acupuncture to quit smoking. There was no electrical current, but I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all to have those eyelash thin needles stuck in all over my head and might have been my neck and hand, too. We left with these little tack-like things in our earlobes we were supposed to press on when we had the urge to smoke. We went to lunch and had a hard time eating while squeezing our ears--LOL! Didn't work for either of us. I have never known anyone else who had acupuncture so I am glad to hear it has worked for you before. I hope it works wonders this time, too. :)
ReplyDeleteDear DJan, please do keep us posted; this interests me. I had a number of acupuncture sessions back in the 1980s and they were indeed very helpful. I can't remember why I want--want needed "fixing!"--but I can remember being amazed at the results. Good luck! Peace.
ReplyDeleteSure hope it works for you. My miracle worker chiropractor that healed me also does acupuncture and if he hadn't given me a hint to cure my shoulder, I was going to ask him to stick me after he fixed my sciatica. I do believe. Let us know.
ReplyDeleteFar Guy had several treatment for his Trigeminal neuralgia...I was amazed that he didn't feel the needles. It didn't help so after two treatments we never went back. We figured it was worth a try. Hope it works for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI've done a fair amount of PT over the years and always found it helpful. Never done acupuncture. But I, too, would be very curious about your experience. So pls. keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteI may try this!
