Our wonderful weather

Foggy downtown scene
For more than a week now, we've had simply wonderful sunny weather, with dense fog most mornings, which give me pictures like the above ethereal scene, taken early one morning this weekend. And now it's all coming to an abrupt end. By Thursday, our hiking day, we are forecast to have a 100% chance of rain. That doesn't mean it will rain constantly, but if we even have a few minutes of rain, that forecast will be correct. Considering that much of our rain doesn't always happen when we're out in it, I'm going to stay optimistic. The forecast for the following days is even worse.

Optimism has carried me through the last few days since my last post. I've done quite a bit of research online to figure out how much advantage I'll gain by having cataract surgery, and it seems that in most cases, it helps, at least for a short while. The kinds of intra-ocular lenses that are available these days is also fascinating. I'll know more when I have my pre-op consultation on the 13th, but for now I'm going to keep my spirits up by considering all the good in my life and hoping for the best. It doesn't help anybody for me to get down in the dumps and all sad about things I can do nothing about.

I just finished my Tuesday yoga class and found that I could perform almost all the asanas our teacher was showing us without a problem. It's the first time I got my hands in prayer position behind my back! I didn't know I could even do it; I just had to be shown how to try. My shoulders are  both going to feel it tomorrow, I'll bet. I sure do enjoy pushing my limits, it seems.

  1. Love your determination. And could fly sooner than I could get my arms in prayer position behind my back.
    Heartfelt hugs.

  2. I love your attitude while knowing that you are allowed to dispair or feel down too. I strive for looking at the good and fall short all the time. But I keep trying.

  4. "Pushing your limits" - yep, that's you.
We have a Sounders match at the stadium on Thursday evening. We have been so fortunate to have mostly dry, mild weather for the matches this season. Sure wish it could continue. It will be cold as well as wet. I'll be thinking of you.

  11. Optimism costs nothing but it sure makes getting from point A to point B a lot more pleasant and more times than not, proves to be correct. Right there with you.

  12. I asked my mom and she has dry MD in one eye and wet MD in the other. The wet one is the one they give her shots every 4-6 weeks. Her specialist was upset that she was going to come up to Minnesota (from Florida) for the summers and not get shots (insurance won't cover it and it's thousands of dollars per shot so she refuses to have it done while she's up here). He was sure she'd be blind in that eye in no time--but she's been up for two summers without shots and it is not much worse at all. You never know. Mom is an 88-year old stubborn Swede who can still see to read--even if she says she reads a little slower because her eyes are wavy-wonky like mine with the macular pucker. But she can read better than I can! Optimism never hurts. ;)

  13. It became much clearer to me as I spoke with people after my daughter's stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis that bad things happen to everybody, unfortunately. But we do have a choice in how we react. We, like you, chose (and continue to choose) to look on the bright side. I really don't want to be miserable every day. So, brava, and take it a day at a time.

  14. I'm glad you mentioned your neck...'cause I was wondering what PART of the back/prayibg hands was done. Sounds kinda painful.

    LOVE the fog.

  15. Good to hear you are optimistic! I am too for you and a prayer here and there may help too! Well your rain gear will get a work out on Thursday. We have snow here, our third snow and this may not melt as it is looking a lot like winter here, today was deary and dark outside typical November Minnesota weather:)
