Random acts of kindness

Snagged from the Internet
Not knowing what to write about today, I used a technique I used in my writing retreat: find a random prompt to get me started. And the one I found is "Random Acts of Kindness." I have always loved that concept, just spreading love and joy throughout my day sounds like a great idea.

I'll try to find some ways to surprise people around me with a smile, maybe buying a stranger ahead of me in line his or her coffee, maybe giving a compliment to a friend, giving someone a hug, just spreading some love around the universe.

I am starting right now with a quote for you from Scott Adams:
"Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end."
Now I'm off into my day looking for places to spread some love.

  1. I felt the love from your last blog comment. You said you enjoyed my spooky writing, which was a two-fer because it is always nice to know someone is actually reading! I feel that being kind creates good karma. Your 3rd eye will benefit from that. Good luck on your eye surgeries. Even though it will be a month.

  2. That's an excellent theme. A disabled friend of mine will always find something to compliment a shopkeeper or waitress. Either her jewellery or make up or clothes. You can see by the person's body language just how much that small comment means to them. I have a lot to learn from her.

  3. Just love this! The other day I had the interior of my car cleaned. The young woman found a five dollar bill under my car seat while she was cleaning and gave it to me! She could have easily stuck it in her pocket and no one would be the wiser. So of course I handed it right back to her and told her that her honesty was refreshing. It created that whole feel good feeling that lasted all day :-)

  6. Yes, I agree. That old song by Jimmy Durante, "make someone happy, just one someone happy... and you will be happy too" is one of my favorites.

  8. Years ago, when I first bought me a computer, and was online, learning things, I registered as a member of an online group called RAOK. We used to go out on the internet, find a website owned by a private citizen [no companies] and leave little homemade graphics with Random Acts of Kindness logo plus sending words in their guestbooks like have a terrific day ahead...things like that.

  10. Lovely.
Kindness should be thrown around like confetti. I hope your day is full of it - as both the giver and the recipient.

  11. Good stuff. Throw kindness around, wherever you go. That's one reason why I talk to everyone!

  12. What a useful tip re: writing technique! Thanks for that random act of kindness!

I try to give strangers sincere compliments and spread kindness whenever I can - but I know I can do more. Thanks for the reminder. I'd like to think that the more kindness we spread, the better the world would be.

  14. I like the analogy of random acts of kindness making ripples like when a pebble is dropped in water and the ripples go on.

I really appreciate your comments! If you see a word verification box here, just ignore it. I don't use the darn thing and Blogger is trying to get us to use it, I guess. Ignore it and your comment will still appear.
