I can't take it another minute

Lake Padden on a grey, rainy morning
I know I usually write (these days) a post on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays, but I cannot take another moment of looking at the Little Prince and the image of the Eiffel Tower on my previous post. It's been a tough weekend for sure, because we are all reeling from the carnage in Paris and now worrying about the future. The terrorists have succeeded in bringing me to tears every time I allow myself (in my thoughts) to leave the safety I find in the world around me. So I will go back to last week.
For a moment, I am as tall as Norma Jean
Peter took a bunch of pictures of the two of us, and in this post you see that I suddenly realized I needed to change places with Norma Jean so I could be the same height as her. She is thinking that this might not be real, but as you can see I'm happy about it. I realize that with every passing year I'm shrinking in height, but for now, I'm standing tall!
Alicia and her toes
When I was Alicia's age, I could suck my toes, too. But you know, that was a LONG time ago. Isn't she cute? I had such a good time in Florida that I'm thinking I might not wait another year before heading back to where I could visit this adorable creature, her sister Lexie, their mother Allison, my own sister Norma Jean, and Peter the Chef who spoiled me with fabulous dishes every night.
:-)

  5. I sure see the resemblance ... to your sister, not so much to Alicia! The more dangerous the world becomes, it seems, the closer we hold our friends and family.

  6. There's one more reason you'd go back to florida and that's weather. A small group of extremists can scare us and this is their goal. The more we get in a frenzy of fear, the easier it is for them to operate.

  7. I believe that we all need to find a little peace...I can't handle all the pain, but even worse is all the hatred that I am seeing all over the internet. It's pushing me away from the computer.

  8. Hang in there, this batch of terrorists is dead except for the one who escaped and it sounds like the French are hunting him down.
Love the photo of you an Norma Jean, happier times for sure! Hold onto them:)

  9. Such cute photos! When I was in Orlando in January 1975, it was quite cool for me, 60 degrees. Too cold to swim in the unheated hotel pool.

  12. This is how we win, I think. We look for the good, share it. We look to spread beauty, kindness, love and grace. No matter what, we can't let the terrorists take that from us. Yes, we mourn the evil that they have wrought but we can't let them take all the good from us.

  14. The world is a sad and terrible place right now. Thankfully, we can enjoy our loved ones and treasure the memories of time with them. I can't suck my toes either, but then, I haven't wanted to. ;) Alicia is adorable.

  17. I'd want to go back once a month if I had a Peter the chef and such adorable, wonderful people waiting for me.

As it is... sigh... I live too far away to even visit our loved ones more often. Sigh...

I'm having some sad thoughts here in Hawaii. Our governor said he would welcome refugees from Syria and got such a fall out from people who are feeling we're opening ourselves up to terrorists and don't have enough money as it is with our rail project and homeless problem. It's true. And yet..we need to remember that not all Muslims are terrorists. Only 1 snuck in as one. The others are trying to escape terrorism. It's hard. It's sad.
