Just out this morning |
When I stopped by the Co-op on my way to my morning walk, after being fueled by some really good coffee, I saw that the annual pumpkin parade has begun in the area by the front door. Before too long, we should see an enormous pumpkin where we can guess its weight. I surmise it's still out in the field, gathering itself for the contest and continuing to add poundage.
This is my favorite time of the year. It's crisp and cool in the mornings and the skies are mostly super-clear and delightful. The air is clean at the moment, with smoke from fires not affecting us at the moment.
I've been visiting various blogs and noticing the variety of flowers and foliage on display around the country. While it varies a great deal, everywhere the feeling of fall is in the air. Except, of course, in the Southern Hemisphere where winter is giving way to spring. I still find it really fascinating at how different our world is, depending on where you live. I'm just glad that we haven't had any of the natural disasters showing up around here, at least for the moment. It's always changing, and I'm hoping that those people suffering from floods will soon be able to dry out a little.
Are these Black Eyed Susans? |
I am pretty much recovered from having received that third booster shot a week ago. I will still continue to wear a mask when in stores or crowded areas, but I'm feeling a little less anxious about catching the Ba-5 variant than I was before I got the shot. How about you? Are you feeling like the pandemic is over? (I'm not.)
:-)
Well, the pandemic may be on its way out... but Covid is still around. And yes, I will continue to mask around large groups of people (especially during flu season - even after Covid). It doesn't bother me to do so... and our doctor recommends it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the pumpkins are out around here too! I took some pics at Central Market this morning. From your mention of recovering from the new Covid shot a week ago, I gather you had a mild reaction...?
The pandemic 'may' be dying down, but I continue to be careful and wear masks on public transport and in crowded areas.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is one of my favourite seasons too, though I am delighting in our spring. Pumpkin doesn't have nearly such an in your face presence in our autumn - though I love them.
We are waiting for the third booster when our medical group tells us to get it, same with flu shots. I'm hoping they can both be given at the same time, right around the first of October. That's when our medical group usually does the flu shots. It may come down to their advising to get the vaccinations at the drug store like it was for the second booster shot.
ReplyDeleteI am feeling more comfortable but not completely so. I checked my blog and the last cold I had was in 2019. I use to get one a year and really don't miss them. I am positive the masking and hand washing kept them away also. So for indoor shopping I will still mask.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful day here today, but turning much colder Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI do feel like the pandemic is over. Not Covid, which will stay with us, but the wide spread danger is behind us for now. That is mainly because vaccination protection is available to everyone, and it would be helpful if everyone would avail themselves of it.
ReplyDeleteWe will get out booster and flu shots when Kaiser notifies us that it's time.
I don't feel that the pandemic is over but I'm very careless about taking preventative measures. I don't wear a mask. I will be getting my fourth shot tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePumpkins! I feel the pandemic is over. People are still getting sick but it has become more acceptable. Still feared but not paralyzing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed that pumpkin photo DJan. And as someone who is currently recovering from his third bout with covid, no I do not believe the pandemic is over. But Honolulu Aunty makes a good point.
ReplyDeleteFor the last week or two, we’ve been under a lot of cloud and rain. It has not been a grand September for the most part. I hope you keep enjoying yours, however.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I would like to travel with our family in February this year so we are delaying the third booster for a few months. It’s not over yet but for now is manageable! Will it ever be over though?
ReplyDeleteWell, good for you for getting that Booster and wearing your mask, especially the mask. Very important.
ReplyDeleteStill masking in places of shopping, and trying to still use preventives. We ate at a restaurant last weekend for the first time in two years or more, it felt loud and surreal.
ReplyDeletePlodding along as you do...
Hugs,
Jo
No the Pandemic is still real to us. We try to be careful when out and about... mostly masks I hate them and Gene really struggles to breathe through the mask, and hand sanitizer. We stay away from sick people and do our best to stay six feet away from people.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any pumpkins in the shops yet but it's only a matter of time. I have just had my 4th Covid jab and will have the flu one next week. As the vaccinations seem to be successful so the fear of Covid has gone. I know the vax doesn't prevent covid and I did have it earlier in the year but it's time to move on and try and lead a normal life once again.
