Rain, so welcome today!

Part of my walking group this morning
This morning it was raining HARD when I left to go walking with the usual group. I figured if nobody showed up, I would at least be able to head to the Y and get on the treadmill. But no, actually we had fifteen in total, and once we started to walk, the rain began to let up, and the wind picked up. This was no usual wind, because it swirled all around us and whipped up the trees.

By the time I got home, there was no power. And when I don't have power, I can't write blog posts! It's almost 6:00pm and I finally decided to head for town and see if I could find some place with internet. Avellino's doesn't have it yet, but I headed to the Community Co-op and they have it! So that's why I am sitting here with a decaf latte and writing this post so late.

I'm hoping by the time I get ready to write my Sunday Eye on the Edge post, our power will be restored. On the way here, I saw many traffic lights that are still not working, so I might be late tomorrow as well. I'm hoping not. Many trees and telephone poles were knocked down today, because it's early for one of these windstorms and all the trees still have their leaves.

But the rain is so welcome! We all agreed, down to the last person, on our five-mile morning walk! :-)

  3. Your're a tough dedicated bunch to walk in these conditions. I hope you're power is back on. There's lots of power off on the west coast. My son still has power.

Love that you got that much needed rain though.

  7. Must have been some wind. But there's something appealing about sitting in a coffee shop in the rain and writing a blog post, isn't there?

  8. We arrived back home last night after a long day to find we still had power and not too much wind damage here. At 7:00 this morning it is still raining. That's good. I need a walk, but might not venture out in the rain just yet.
I have not had a chance yet to discover the extent of the wind damage around here but i understand power outage and downed trees are wide spread.
I came on line to look for your Sunday morning post, but since it isn't here yet, I'm suspecting you are still without power.

  10. From the news reports, your state got walloped. I know you could use some rain but the wind was a bit much. Sure hope you power is back on---that is no fun. Be safe and take care.

  14. Good for you and your friends for getting out there and braving the weather! I was on the road to South Dakota Saturday morning, and missed all the exciting weather. But I hit lots of smoke and wind throughout my drive.

  15. I understand just how welcomed the rainfall would be!! We need it here so desperately. And walking in the rain....I can go for that too in fact.

Hope not too much damage done by the winds tho!
