I frankly was not unhappy, because walking in the woods in the rain might be occasionally fun, but I wasn't feeling up to it today. (The light rain never stopped and picked up enough to make it a bit soggy.) Instead, we went back to the coffee shop for another round of coffee. I ended up having twice my usual amount of espresso, and when I started dancing, the barista decided I shouldn't get any more. I was feeling really jazzed.
However, I ended up missing my usual Saturday walk and considered going to the Y for a date with the treadmill, but somehow I just couldn't work up any enthusiasm for it. By the time I got there, the caffeine had begun to work its way out of my system, and I decided that it would be fine if I skipped a day. Maybe I'll make up for it tomorrow, and maybe I won't. It's nice to take a day off now and then.
:-)
We've had more than our share of rain as of late, but it's since switched over into snow.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so hard on yourself you deserve a day off.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve a day off no and again. And, technically, you can count that caffeine fueled dance as a bit of exercise too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of people being cut off at the bar ... but never the espresso bar! Me? I drink half caff.
ReplyDeleteYou don’t take time off very often, Jan. Good for you!
ReplyDeletePretty special coffees they serve out west!
ReplyDeleteYes, a day off now and then can be a good thing. I did do my 40 minutes of exercise and we braved the drizzle and got in our 2 mile walk, but I haven't done much since. Saving up for tomorrow I guess. It is surprising how much I am NOT enjoying the rain and the darkness today. I miss all that light we have been having. Makes me want to eat, which I am working hard to avoid.
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes we need a rest from routine. But we have to make sure that we jump on the routine again.
ReplyDeleteHope you are not getting sick?? You usually don't mind the rain:)
ReplyDeleteYou didn't sound like your normal self so I wondered, too, if you were feeling okay? You never let much interfere with your physical activity. Were you listening to your body and just not feeling quite your best...or just plain in the mood for a nice long visit over coffee with a good friend on a rainy day? Maybe you and Lily both deserved a day off. ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your rain. PNW isn't supposed to be dry. Playing hooky at any age is kind of fun once in a while. Go easy on the coffee though, you don't want to be banned from your coffee shop.
ReplyDeleteYou had your coffee cut off in a coffee shop! I'm proud of you. A day off never hurts.
ReplyDeleteSkipping a day is allowed!
ReplyDeleteYup! I took the day off yesterday. My Apple Watch showed that I had only 10 minutes of exercise. And it's OK. I love your happy coffee.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin moved from Kansas to Seattle many years ago. She always joked that the PNW was where it could rain on you and you would not get wet. Back here we have rip roarin' thunderstorms that blow rain up and under your umbrella. That is what she was used to. (I love Seattle and we have a son in Portland which I wish we could visit more often.)
ReplyDeleteCaffeine is my nemesis. We're getting cold, arctic air here. Colder in Corpus than my sister's in Colorado.
