Tulips from April |
That was the highlight of the day, and now it's dark and still raining. I can hear it drumming on the roof, and the forecast for tomorrow is for more of the same. Well, we won't be hiking this Thursday, so that's a plus, I guess. A few of us will go out on Saturday, when the weather is supposed to clear up and get sunny and cold, so we can get some exercise and sunshine.
Is it my imagination or has the weather been unusual lately? It's hard to tell, although seven feet of snow in New York in just one day is a bit on the amazing side. Rain here, though, is normal for this time of year. I'm determined to enjoy my outdoor time anyway, but even I am glad I didn't have to spend much time out in it today. Getting soft in my old age.
:-)
i'd welcome some of your rains if i could get them. :) but i'm glad our temps have normalized again this week in texas. sunshine and wind and 60s is pretty good.
ReplyDeleteand enjoy that thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWeird weather here too...warm for us...then sub zero. I wish it would just snow and get it over with. The day was dreary here too, I call it November skies. Heavy clouds with no sunshine. I baked:)
ReplyDeletewe are supposed to get our first snow tomorrow, so we will see...if so i will probably need to see some flowers as well after a few days...smiles.
ReplyDeleteRain? Jealous thoughts. We have had a smidgeon - and need a bucket.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Thanksgiving.
You're entitled! The weather has been strange everywhere. Here in Florida yesterday, it hit 90. Very unusual for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteSoft in your old age ? What are you saying? You're not old. You stay outdoors all the time so you're not soft. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteToday, for the first time in as long as I can remember, I did almost nothing. I even ignored the rain outside. I read books and magazines. I read email and Facebook and commented on several things. I did a little research on the findings of the Grand Jury in Ferguson. I did my physical therapy exercises, which I hadn't done for many weeks, since I couldn't get out for a walk.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I'll be busy again, but today was a day off.
I'd say the weather has been unusual sometimes for the past several years, actually. First in this region and then another. One country and then another. I'm feeling lucky that we've just had single digits and little or no snow, I guess. I wanted to know which movie you saw with Judy! ;)
ReplyDeleteHey! You might be grumpy about the weather because you know Thanksgiving is coming and going to completely disrupt your routine this week--LOL! ;) ;)
I always think of November as a dreary and dismal month. Not just the weather but the short daylight hours can have an effect on my well being so looking at bright sunny pictures certainly helps. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI'd say the weather is changing - right after our Nor'easter a few weeks ago, temps have gone right up to balmy - shorts n tank tops. Now we are expecting another ?snow storm later today into tomorrow. We'll see about that - its got to get a lot colder and it probably will as we get wild temp swings with the weather. Yesterday was a great day for a drive to Sussex to shop and eat out with just windbreaker - no winter clothes. I think you just get used to the rain like we get used to wild weather. Good Lord DJan, you're not getting soft in your old age. You're just feeling bored cause you are not out walking 20 miles in the wilderness. Happy Thanksgiving to you n Hubby.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining here now and expected to go on all day. The temps here have been up and down and all over the place. I've been enjoying the warmth while I can still get it. Not looking forward to the cold. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the flowers, which I appreciate in this dreary November day. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOne word I would NEVER use to describe you- soft! Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteNot soft! "Prudent", I'd say. No sense in getting a Cold...:)
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a part of the country that isn't setting records for one extreme or another lately. Hope this isn't the new normal.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving in spite of the weather. Stay dry.
I agree the weather has been unusual for the last few years... and this year seems to be no exception. It worries me, but what can you do?
ReplyDeleteAnd I too have always considered November a dreary month.
Spent the day cooking oyster stuffing and bourbon sweet potatoes.
Those flowers sure are a sight for rain-weary eyes.. or cold-worn goosebumps in my case. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving, DJan.
ReplyDeleteI can do rain okay, but the darkness bugs me. Now packing up for Arizona. Let there be light!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I was confused for a bit, thought the photo of flowers was a current pic. We have 20* weather in Kansas today. I could go for some flowers.
ReplyDeleteYou're right! The weather is weird lately, both there and here in England too where it is unseasoned mild. Happy Thanksgiving dear D-jan xxx
ReplyDeleteA hearty , disciplined lady going soft? That's not you.
