Oooopsie!

There goes my bus

It's not just because I missed my bus, but I also forgot to write a new post in my usual Tuesday routine habit. I don't think anybody but me probably cares, but it's pretty hard for me to get used to forgetting things all the time, every day. I would have sworn I wrote this post, but it was just in my own head. It's now Wednesday morning, bright and early, but nothing I can do will make it possible to post this yesterday. I thought about just letting it go, but I don't seem to be able to do that.

Oh well. I had a pretty good day yesterday and felt like I had all the time in the world, but deadlines and buses wait for no one. We have a wonderful bus system here in Bellingham, and I ride it quite often and faithfully. I know the ins and outs of the system, and I recently learned that, like everything else, the rates are going up.

Until they do, I haven't paid a dime for a bus ride for seven years, since if you are 75 or older, the buses have been free. Once the rates change, I'll be paying $1 per ride. I know it's not much, but I see people on the bus that I know will be negatively impacted. I wish we could have a means test, or some way to cover their costs for them. The bus system is taking comments and I have suggested this might be a way to help the really indigent riders. Any ideas?

Now I am going to post this tardy missive and hope the rest of my day will proceed without further incident.

:-)

  1. You wrote it so well inside your head,
The post was finished—just not typed or read!
Buses and Tuesdays may slip right past,
But Wednesday’s words still land at last.

  2. The bus system in town has a punch card that is at a reduced price. If you accompany someone to a medical appointment in a wheelchair it is a free ride. Perhaps a local charity would help out with free ride coupons.

  3. I understand about the forgetting... it happens. I make a list on my iPhone of things to do that day. And either do it, or if I forget, transfer it to the next day. Sorry about the bus increase.

  4. As someone who checks every Tuesday, I care, but only because I worry something has happened. So glad when I checked today and found a post. I still have my bus pass from my three summers in Bellingham. Really loved that system.

  5. It's not so terrible to celebrate Tuesday on Wednesday. 😊

There are no buses in a smaller town although they have tried more than once. Maybe they'll figure it out some day.

  6. No idea how to help them. :(
Sorry you missed your bus. I know how you like to stick to your schedule. ;)

  7. I noticed. You weren't there on Tuesday. Not that that is a problem for me. You are the master of your own schedule. And apparently so is the bus. :-)
I think there should be free bus passes for hardship cases, even if the rest have to pay a bit more.

  8. If you hadn't posted it would have bugged you all day.

  9. We have a food box program where you can donate a voucher for someone who needs it when you pick up your own box. Perhaps donate a month-long pass?

  10. Oh gee... How wonderful that you used to be able to get free rides if you're over 75. But a $1.00 a ride is still great. We're happy mom can get her Handi-Van for $2.25 a ride door to door which is awesome. It does add up, but we're lucky she can afford it since we take care of her other costs.

I've been writing and scheduling my posts ahead of time actually and just move it around if something important happens that I want to post immediately.

  11. Doesn't matter the day, you post when you want to say something and we will all be delighted to hear what you are up to. I am now back home, after 2 weeks supervising the grandchildren and grand cats. It will take me a week to catch up with the work around here, and then there is all of the other aspects of life to tend to. My postings may be sparse.

I really appreciate your comments! If you see a word verification box here, just ignore it. I don't use the darn thing and Blogger is trying to get us to use it, I guess. Ignore it and your comment will still appear.
