Light rain falling |
It's sure a different world for us these days. When the rain began and cleaned up our air quality, it also brought us a bit of wind and we ended up with dense leaves on the trail. This was taken this morning in Cornwall Park. I wanted something that would show what our environment is these days. I don't mind the rain at all, but that will probably change after days and weeks of the stuff. We've only had a couple of inches in the past few days, but there are other places in the state that have been inundated around here.
I was reading in bed last night when I heard the rumble of thunder, and shortly after a huge rainstorm moved in, with rain battering the roof loudly, and so I stopped and listened until it ended. Then I went back to reading and got caught up in the story and didn't fall asleep right away when I stopped. When that happens, I usually miss getting my routine eight hours or so, and so tonight I'll not start, so I can catch up on my sleep. I always feel much better when I wake rested without an alarm to artificially get me out of bed.
I'm trying to finish this up so I can get to my hair appointment. Looking very shaggy these past few days; it surprises me when I can go for weeks without even thinking about my hair, and then suddenly it's all over the place. My haircutter lost her studio and has moved her salon into her home, so I would have needed a few extra minutes to make sure I know how to get there, but my friend John drove me by her new place before dropping me off at my usual spot. I am very fortunate to have such good friends, don't you think?
:-)
I am not in the slightest bit surprised you have good friends. You are one. Here in the blogosphere and in life.
ReplyDeleteNothing nicer than listening to rain while in bed, I'm glad you were able to stay up and enjoy it DJan. And yes, you certainly have some great friends. I hope your hair appt went well, but I thought you hippies liked it all over the place! ;^)
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean. Hair can really turn on you suddenly. One day good, next day--good grief. Glad you didn't lose your hairdresser, she just moved. So glad you have gotten rain and much needed clean air.
ReplyDeleteYou do have some dandy friends with John and Mel at the front. Priceless.
I like listening to the rain too... and we had a good rain here yesterday. As for the hair, I just got mine cut this week... and a bit shorter than usual. Good thing about it is that it's been windy and with really short hair, it doesn't matter much.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, good friends are worth their weight in gold...
We saw lightening in the far distance last night when we were at Irene's soccer match. Too far away for thunder. Maybe that was yours.
ReplyDeleteI got my hair cut this afternoon and now I think it it looks too short. So it goes, never quite just right.
We are having rain in the night. This suits me fine.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a good rain to freshen things up.
ReplyDeleteGood for a rain! A hair cut too..it will be a year in December since I got a cut...and I really need one...my hair is so thick it takes forever to dry!
ReplyDeleteDear DJan, yes, you are fortunate. But then, I think John is fortunate also because you must be and are such a good friend to him and all your walking/hiking buddies. I've had many friends in my lifetime. Many of them have now died and within my grieving I've been deeply and abidingly grateful that they chose me for a friend. Now, during this aging time before the Beyond, I feel even more fortunate than ever to have friends--ones with whom I've chatted over the dinner table and ones, like you, DJan, whom I met through blogging. Life has been, and is, good for both of us. Peace from Dee Ready
ReplyDeleteYes, it's nice to have good friends like John and Melanie. You are blessed.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, rain! We are having a rainy day here - the near dead grass and plants are so happy.
ReplyDelete6 hours sleep for me. If I get too much sleep I feel drained. We need some rain here. Oh, and I need a hair cut too!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to you, my morning routine now includes stopping by the Astronomy Picture of the Day. Today’s is amazing, don’t miss it! 😊 Have you ever seen the sun and moon set together?
ReplyDeleteFriends definitely add so much to our lives. I think that's what made COVID so difficult that it limited the times we could see our friends.
