The punster strikes again |
I'll be heading to Florida to visit him and my sister Norma Jean next month. It takes me awhile to gather myself together to travel these days. I spend a bit of time each day giving myself a pep talk and looking forward to those early-morning swims next to Norma Jean in the outdoor pool at her local Y.
It's not that I don't love to be there, but I'm no longer much of a traveler and marvel, when I think back, at how easy it was, once upon a time, to go halfway around the world, several times a year, in pursuit of my old job. My boss, Mickey, is still doing it but I ran out of steam for travel, even across the country, long ago. Thinking about it, though, gives me a little frisson of excitement. My reluctance is beginning to fall away.
:-)
Hah! A good different take on the season.
ReplyDeleteThat is a groaner but it made me smile! Yes, travel isn't any fun these days but once you get there, you'll be glad you went!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that excitement is starting to stir for you, and know you will love your family time.. Travelling does my head in these days. Stuck in a rut?
ReplyDeleteWe're wondering a lot about what sort of travelling we're going to be able to do.
ReplyDeleteWith his sense of humor, Peter will no doubt season your visit, spice it up a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't traveled far in the last two years and while there are still a few places i want to go domestically, I think our world travel days are done. We used to walk all over wherever we went, and now I am more and more limited in that endeavor.
You have a fun nephew. Only the odd person would put seasoning together to mark the season!
ReplyDeleteNorma Jean will love seeing you! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is great you visit your sister yearly. I haven’t seen my brother for a few years now.
ReplyDeletePeter is a funny one. The traveling might not be much fun sometimes but the destinations are. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha seasononal greetings indeed. It is hard to get it all together to travel for me too but so far I'm always glad once I'm underway. Hope you will be too.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, he is a great cook. Another reason to get excited. You will have a great time with your sister and those times in the pool sound like fun.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you about the dread of the trip itself though. Oh for when we can just beam ourselves to the location we want.
You know, I always thought it would be great to do more traveling in retirement, but frankly, I just have zero desire now. Oh well. Have a marvelous trip!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute photo. I don't travel anymore and I don't miss it.
ReplyDeleteYou'll enjoy it once you're there! It's the 'work's to get there...packing, security checks, anxieties as to who is aboard your plane...etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be fine...you'll see.
