Snow and coffee

Everything is white
I woke yesterday morning, after our wet and rainy hike, to this: a snow-covered front porch. I decided to walk to the bus, but it was difficult to make my way through the icy, slippery snow, so instead I cleaned off my car and drove downtown so I could visit my friends at the coffee shop and then work out at the gym. Since the streets were still rather warm, the snow wasn't causing any icy patches on the pavements, and I made it to the parking lot with little difficulty.
Nobody sitting outside for some reason
As I left the coffee shop to head for the gym, I was feeling pretty happy about having gotten out on such a wintery day. The class had less than half its usual number, and this morning, Saturday, I've learned that the walk with the ladies has been canceled because of icy conditions. Lily and I will still drive to the coffee shop and maybe we'll head over to the local indoor mall and walk there. In any event, we'll be fueled by some excellent coffee and company.
:-)

  3. It feels too early for snow, Jan. We had to use our winter coats today when we walked. Snow will be soon enough.

  4. I'm trying to deny that summer is truly over. I guess I can't deny it anymore with these pictures.

  5. I am so envious of your beautiful snow. How nice and cozy that coffee must have tasted looking out at that lovely picture.

  6. Wow snow already! Our higher elevations are predicted to get some tonight (I think 1000 foot and higher...)

  7. I suspect that your exercise addicted self WILL walk, but love that you have coffee and company to go with it.
    And envy your snow.

  8. The first snow and cold snap gives you a jolt. Then we become acclimated to it . Later, all your yoga buddies will show up.

  10. You did have cold weather and more snow than we did. We went for our walk this morning on dry pavement. There may be more snow overnight, but it isn't supposed to get down to freezing, so it will probably be a repeat of Friday.

  12. Ah, yes. The weather can change one's plans. But doesn't newly fallen snow look beautiful! :)

  13. I was just telling someone, that since I'm writing on my laptop now, I like to enlarge the type so I can see it with ease. I'm sorry about the bad news with your eyes. I have family members that suffer from that. Maybe I will too. But on a brighter note, the beauty of your hikes last week are easy to see.

  14. Snow? We've had a warm fall in our new home in southeastern PA, and so in response . . . we've decamped to South Carolina for a cpl of weeks. But we're sure to see some of the white stuff back at home in Dec or Jan.

  17. I think you did very well, risking the pavements to get to your car. No snow here yet, but this morning we got down to 0 degrees C, which caused frost on the cars and roofs. I woke up to the sound of my neighbour scraping the windscreen of his car.

  18. Dear DJan, your daily schedule of walks and gym and hikes and coffee and buses and driving and simply enjoying all that surrounds you inspires me whenever I come to your two blogs. Thank you. Peace.

  19. Looks like a wet snow. We could really use a storm here - the ski area opens on the 10th (only man-made snow). I walked yesterday as some flakes were falling, but the road remained dry. I watch myself if I think there is ice!
