Another wet day

Lily's coffee and mine this morning
Both Lily and I went off to join the ladies for the 8:00am walk on this soggy morning. We had a brief respite between rainstorms and started off walking in dry weather. Now it's after 1:00pm and it's been raining pretty consistently since halfway through the walk.

We are heading off to a going-away party for my dear friend Carol, who is moving from the apartment complex at the end of the month. It's bittersweet to lose one of my favorite neighbors. Since the apartment is next door to Lynn's, she is hoping for a sweet single guy in his sixties who likes to go places who will move in to Carol's old place. We''ll see what we get!
Taken in our back yard early this summer
Carol is moving back to North Carolina where her family lives. That's Carol in the back with sunglasses on. She will surely be missed. We'll send her off in style, though!

  1. Of course you will send her off in style. Just as you will miss her, she will miss you.

  2. It is sad to lose a neighbour. My neighbours of 17 years told me they were selling up and moving away from London. I was devastated as they are such lovely people. Tonight they popped round to say they had changed their mind and have decided to stay. They couldn't find anywhere as nice as where they are. I will be out to buy them some champagne tomorrow to celebrate.

  3. blessings to carol... i have wondered if my road will lead me back to family someday. if a nice man in his 50s who is okay with not doing much doesn't appear first. :)

  7. Rain will be on the menu for quite a few of our walking days now. glad you got yours in. We spent some time in the rain on the sidelines of Isaac's soccer game. With proper rain gear it we were comfortable and dry.
I hope you had a great party and send off for your friend.

  8. Gosh, it's hard to lose good friends. Hope someone really nice moves in and becomes your new friend. The rain and storm you all are getting sounds horrific.

  9. You obviously had a great relationship in your apt. It pays big dividends when you know everybody.

  13. It is hard to lose a member of the group but all you can do is wish them well and remember that the Internet keeps us all close. Hope she enjoys her new lifestyle.

  15. Yay!!! I'm here, getting around to visiting my Blogger buddies! You're the first stop on a lot of catching up I hafta do.

Oh, how I wish I could say the same...you get the rain, we still get the heat. Altho, I must admit the air is finally drying up a bit. It actually feels like a South Texas Autumn day.

Love the coffee designs. Too bad you're losing a good friend at the apartment complex....here's to a good looking, loves to do things, single guy to move in where Carol left vacant.

  17. Oh it's so upsetting when a neighbour moves away, especially one you are fond of. I do hope you get a good replacement soon.
