Another beautiful Saturday

I captured Mt. Shuksan last Thursday
This weather is getting downright boring! We've had week after week of sunshine. The clouds in the picture were pretty much the only ones I've seen all week long, and even they evaporated by the time we returned to the trailhead. It's a little weird to be seeing all the weather disasters around the country, while we just continue to have week after week of sun. I've been out watering my garden and realize that we're five to six weeks ahead of schedule. I might actually get some tomatoes this year.

For us, the anomalous weather is not too hard to take. But my sister Norma Jean in Florida is having a heat wave, and Texas and Oklahoma set all-time records for May rainfall. I guess that's where our rain got off to. In July and August, our lawns usually turn brown because of the lack of rain, but it's already happened. And it's a little bit scary to think of the fire danger here in the Pacific Northwest for the next few months.

What is it like where you are? I know I have followers from all over the world, which means that some of you are going into winter, while the rest of us are a couple days away from the summer solstice. That happens at 9:39am PDT on Sunday, June 21. That will also be Father's Day here in the US.

The time goes whizzing by at a rate I might have wished for when I was a kid waiting for school to set me free, but these days I can barely keep up. Wait! Another week just sped right on by.
:-)

  1. Cloudy here this morning. Rain is predicted, and I soooo hope it arrives. Chilly too - which I love.
And, on the weird side, last week we saw a street full of trees, hanging onto their autumn foliage with blossom. In winter!!!!???

  2. Beautiful shot of Mt. Shuksan! Sign, our weather is the same as yours. And I echo your concerns about the fire danger. I'm afraid we're in for a long, hot summer.

  3. Such a pretty photo! We are officially out of the drought situation we were in earlier this spring. We have 70 something days and 50 something nights. However last Tuesday it was 93 degrees and we turned the air on! We are also getting smoke pollution from the fires in Canada. We have skeeters, dragonflies and a few bees and butterflies. I saw a Monarch but I wasn't fast enough with my camera. I hope you have a beautiful Sunday:)

  4. i completely agree on the time speeding by! how the heck did it get to be mid-june?! i worry about the drought spreading to your area, too. i hope it is a short dry spell and not 4 and 5 years worth like first texas, then california has seen.

    and just a beautiful shot!

  6. Like you we've been very dry in Alberta. It began to rain three or four days ago so the dry conditions are temporarily eased.Yes, it is nutty weather. It's all text book global warming.

  8. Too bad I can't send you some of our clouds and rain! Though we are getting some sunny days in between.

  9. We've had beautiful early summer weather here in the Northeast as well ... and I'll take that kind of boring any time!

  10. I think the weather is normal for us here in Georgia. It was in the low to mid 80s last week and this coming week will be in the low to mid 90 F – we do get some rain, mostly short storm. Our potted plants survived while we were in Key West, so it must have rained. In Key West it was OK at the beginning of our stay but by the time we left it was getting pretty warm and humid. My knees are getting worse and it was difficult walking – even with my cane. It’s upsetting when the mind is willing but the legs don’t want to follow!

  11. Well... We had a perfectly beautiful Hawaiian day today, but it was a little hot. 90 degrees! Our days have been the usual mostly sunshine with a little shower mixed in. I'm surprised you're getting so much sunshine. I always expect you to have a lot of rain.

  12. Our summer has been slow so far in England. We've only really had one hot day so far although we did have a sunny week a few weeks ago.
    Lovely picture of the mountain.
Yes I agree that time has sped up the last few years.

  13. We went from drought to floods. Temps bouncing from snow to 80s in May!! A lot of your rain has drifted our way. I love that picture of Mt. Shuksan!! :)

  14. I'm in Bellingham where you are! And loving this summer weather. I lived here from 2008-10 and remember two nice summers back then and we just moved back here earlier this year so to us this feels perfectly normal! But I know that this is not always the case. I lived in England for many years and am used to rainier summers and I never minded that. I also lived in MA for a few years and o not like the extreme winters and summers there. The temperate PNW climate is just perfect for me :)

  15. It's really odd....here last month we had record rainfall...now that the June sun is out early and staying up late [I know it's no different, but you know...] the days are dry and it's getting close to drought like conditions again. Our yard, tho the lawn is green, the areas the lawn is edged is cracking up in the heat...lack of rainfall.

Let's just hope that you and your area of the states will get some much needed moisture and no fire hazards ahead.
