Listening to the rain

Blossoms
When I walked to the bus last Friday, I saw that some of my favorite blossoms have begun to come out. These don't last long, so I usually try to get them when they are covered with dew or rain with early morning light. It wasn't raining then, so I'll try again Monday. But for now, I'm sitting inside listening to the rain drum on the rooftop. Our Saturday morning walk was a wet one, too, but for awhile it seemed like it would clear up. Nope, not yet.

I still have more than two weeks to drive around my crippled car before it gets fixed. I think I could put the whole thing behind me much more quickly if I didn't have to be reminded every time I drive it. Plus, even though the adjuster said it's fine to drive it on the freeway, there is no way I'll do that until it's fixed. It goes into the shop on April 6, a full month after the accident. It reminds me that there must be a whole lot of car accidents in Bellingham every day.
Gene's hand, Leo, and his dad's torso
I also got this picture of Leo on Friday, showing how quickly he is growing up. He doesn't come into the coffee shop nearly often enough for me these days, but he's in school much of the time, and next year it will be even worse. He kept making faces, so Gene distracted him so that I was able to capture this picture of my favorite six-year-old friend.

Hey, the rain just stopped, and it got significantly brighter outside. I may have some sunshine today after all! Hope you do, too.
:-)

  1. Leo is growing soooo fast.
Glad to hear that you are getting a little sunshine - and hope that there is always some (literal and/or metaphorical) in your life.

  2. That seems such a long time to wit to get your car fixed. Hopefully it will be like new when they've finished with it.

  4. We finally got some sunshine today...with a possibility of more rain tomorrow. But I'll enjoy it while I have it. Boy, Leo IS growing up quickly!

  8. It was always a little to send my kids and grandkids off to school for the first time because in a way it was the end of their childhood freedom. From then on it would be school or a job every day for the next 60 years. It's good to see Leo's smile.
We had much more sun than I expected today too, after my mostly wet morning walk.

  9. i just visited my grandchildren and they too are growing like weeds. As much as I enjoy seeing them grow and learn new things, there's a part of me that would like to hold them little forever.

  10. OK, I just packed my umbrellas. Spring is such a hard time to pack for especially when you have a mother who gets cold so quickly.

    Leo has the cutest smile!

  11. I heard on the news that your area was getting less rain now that it usually gets this time of year. But that it was raining there now. We have been getting a lot of rain lately (which we need badly). And I really don't mind the wet as long as it isn't wet and cold. Wishing you sunshine!

  12. I guess you're lucky you can still drive your car, though. I hope they fix it so it looks great.
All the budding plants will enjoy the rain. Have a great week. :)

  14. That really seems like a long delay getting your car repaired. Good thing you have access to public transportation and are comfortable using it. Know you will feel more confident when this is behind you.
    Leo just keeps getting cuter.

  15. Leo is a real cutie!

Sorry about the delay in repairing your car. That's a really long time! I hope it's at least a quick fix once it's in the shop!

    Stay dry.

  16. My goodness....being absent from blogging for a while, I missed this about your accident?!!!!! I hope you weren't hurt from it. Yep, the mechanics and body repair shops are busy here too!! The other day, there were EIGHT accidents in the same part of town...along the Interstate heading toward San Antonio...all hydroplaning. If they'd just slow down in the heavy rain.

Beautiful blossoms!! And leo is such a doll.

  17. Spring has been interrupted here in Minnesota. Snow! But it does look pretty when you know it won't be around too long. You are like the mailman DJan. Nothing stops your walking route!

  18. Garages are always busy in south Florida, too!

  19. Although we had clouds over the weekend, no rain here. There was a bit of snow in the mountains which will add a few more drops of water to our ever decreasing supply. We are thankful for any precipitation we can get.

  20. We got a half inch of snow late yesterday on top of the mulch put down. Some of the flowers should be coming up but none are.

  21. Dear DJan, I have a favorite six-year-old friend. He's so sweet and there is a tenderness within him that almost breaks my heart at times. I feel he is an old soul and there is a depth of wisdom within his soul.

Leo is truly growing. I can remember other pictures you've posted of him. Peace.
