Only three days left

Yes, only three more days to enjoy the blue skies and palm trees of Florida before I go back home to Bellingham and 40-degree days with lots of rain. But the worst of the winter months are behind us, we have passed the midpoint towards spring, and I'm really enjoying being with Norma Jean.
A day at the beach
When we were in Texas for Thanksgiving, I got my first pedicure, and a few days ago I got my second one. I could really get used to this kind of pampering. It's not so easy to do this myself, and I've learned that most of these places have nice jacuzzi-like places for your feet and all you need to do is pick out a color for the nail polish, and they do the rest. Other than paying for it, of course. I'll need to find a place in Bellingham; I'm sure there are many.
From my iPhone "Lose It" app
One thing I'll miss is exercising with my sister. As you can see from this picture, today was a bit of everything, which gave me a total number of calories burned of 579. Adding this to my daily allowance means that today I can eat a fair amount more than usual. (My usual exercises only burn about 300.) We'll be talking on video chat next week instead of being together.

In some ways, I'm ready to resume my life in Bellingham. I miss my partner, and I miss my friends. Tomorrow we will go to her yoga class, so I probably won't jog along with her tomorrow. I cannot possibly add another thing to today's exercise. I'm just a bit tired, if you can believe it! I still have three more days before heading back home, and I'm making the best of it.
:-)

  2. So glad you are able to enjoy this time with your sister! Although I will miss the warm weather pictures.

I can promise you there are plenty of places to get a pedicure at home!

  4. It's gong to b tough to leave Florida even if you are a little homesick. I't great if you can exercise with someone else who will support and encourage you to do more. I've never felt as good since I stopped running. I think I can still run but I haven't made the effort to get going.

  5. My first thought was: stay longer! I understand why you need to and want to go home, but I can sure see why you will hate to leave this place and this time with your sis

You two rock. My goodness. You really do get plenty of exercise!

  8. Your sister is really putting you through your paces DJan. You are going to have to come back home to get a little rest.

I really like the shot of your foot on the sandy beach. I could use a little sand between my toes right now.

  9. Sounds like there is a bit of competition between you and Norma Jean when it comes to exercise D-Jan. Don't overdo it!
The pedicure sounds great. I've never had that luxury. I did have a back massage once and enjoyed that very much, but it's all so expensive. I find it hard to justify that sort of thing on myself. I don't blame you though. Go for it girl! Nice feet by the way.

  10. Hi DJan,

I have been so busy lately that I had forgotten you were in Florida this week. Just read all your posts and got caught up on your activities with your sister. Sounds like you have been enjoying yourself.

You correctly identified all of the flowers in your previous post. Not bad for a Northerner!!

I live over on the East coast, but our weather has been very similar to what you have experienced in Zephyerhills - maybe a couple of degrees warmer. The sunny days have been glorious.

Yes, we have an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy, but you must miss your mountains.

Glad to know you'll be going home with pretty toes :-)

  12. Sorry about the deleted post. It posted twice for some strange reason.

And, after further review, that is definitely an Azalea. The leaves are fuzzy, and Hibiscus have smooth leaves, but the flower is very similar.

  16. Dear DJan, that number of burnt calories astounds me! Even when vacationing you are a model of how to take care of our bodies as we age. Thank you again for sharing what you are doing with your days there in Florida as you celebrate the closeness between you and Norma Jean. Peace.

  19. What really surprised me is to see how well organized you are – you write down – I guess it is your cell phone or IPad – how many calories you burn! I wish I were like you, full of energy and always on the go. My knees have been hurting more than usual and waking me up at nights several times, but even if I could I don’t think I would be as good at it as you are. Your pictures are so lovely and full of sunshine – don’t you feel sorry for people up north who are with snow for months? Enjoy yourself and keep the lovely beaches and Florida sun in your mind’s eye.

  21. how can you live w/o pedicures once in a while? my toes are an iridescent Prussian blue right now and I get such a kick out of them.

  22. No deicures for me unless the place is absolutely crazy about hygiene because I've heard some awful stories about the spread of stuff.
But time with sister I am all for!!
