Rain will be around awhile

In the mood for a little rain?
I checked out the weather app on my phone to see what to expect for the next few days. Our cold snap is over, and the temperatures are even expected to be a little warmer than normal. We are accustomed to rain here in the Pacific Northwest, but this is a little extreme even for us. Wish there was some way to transfer portions of this wet bounty to places in the world that could use it. Fortunately, Australia is finally getting a little bit of rain, but I suspect it could use even more, and we've got plenty to spare.

It looks as though we'll have some showers to start with, and by Thursday, our hiking day, it will be raining in earnest. Thank goodness I've got all the proper gear. Around here, you can't wait for the rain to stop in order to get some exercise. I just hope we won't have any flooding. At least the warm weather and rain have melted all that snow. There's hardly any left, making walking and driving around much easier. The familiar sound of rain drumming gently on the roof is actually rather soothing.

I have a couple of books to read, one to finish and another one ready to start. Life is feeling pretty good right now, with my aches and pains having taken a break, it seems, and not bothering me.
:-)

  1. After house cleaning and laundry this morning, and my PT exercises, we took advantage of the dry afternoon to get in our walk and then do a little cleaning up outside. Unlike you, I prefer to not walk on the rain, but can if it's not torrential. /we hope to dodge showers while we can and time our walks during the rain breaks.
This week will be the big gray, but at least it's lighter a bit longer now.

  3. I often think about the distribution of weather. Yes, why couldn't Australia get some of your rain.

  4. We could certainly do with some more rain (well most of us - some places have flooding) as fires still burn.
Enjoy your books, and your pain free body.

  5. It is frosty and cold here which I don't mind. Rain is probably the one thing I don't enjoy walking in as it prevents you having a good view of your surroundings.

  7. I don’t know if I would venture forth on a hike in the pouring rain even with the right gear. You are an adventurous soul, Jan.

  9. Although we need rain, nothing like what you have forecast. I am grateful for a 60 degree forecast for Tuesday.

  10. It's the rain that makes your area so lush and green. I don't grumble too much when it rains here in Hawaii. During the 1990s we had a drought and had to ration water.

  11. Hope your Thursday isn't the gully washer you are expecting. Sometimes, even proper gear isn't enough. As a kid I use to love walking in the rain. Not so much any more.

  12. I guess if you have the proper gear, walking in the rain wouldn't be so bad. I actually like a warm rain... but mostly I don't want to be soaking wet and cold.

  14. Dear DJan, I'm glad your aches and pains are taking a respite! And that the snow has melted and seeped into the ground. Here today were are having a snowy, rainy mix with cold! Peace.

  15. We’ve been having quite a bit of rain over here, but now we’ve had two sunny days so mom is happy to be able to hang out her laundry. The weather is nice and cool too. I sent a photo of our outdoor thermometer reading 60 degrees to my daughter in Illinois. She sent me a photo of 33 degrees over there.
