Peter took this during my riotous visit to Florida |
I thought long and hard about going back to Florida in February for a longer stay, but it's just not going to happen. I checked the airfares and could possibly get a bargain price, but it would be a hassle and, although it would be fun while I'm there, travel gets harder and harder to endure. A sign of aging, I guess. Looking at the picture, I realize that I often tuck my hands under my chin like that when I'm going to sleep.
The one thing that makes me want to go back down there is to see that luscious little Alicia grow and change almost by the day. She'll be a year old at the end of February. Norma Jean is still smitten, and every time I talk to her I get updates on her progress. But nobody sends me many pictures. Peter also took this picture when I didn't know he was even there; our attention was taken up by Miss Alicia, trying to get her to crawl to us. Now, six weeks later, you can't keep her back!
"What are they so excited about?" |
:-)
Kudos to Peter for taking such adorable photos!
ReplyDeleteI love them both.
And....if someone took a photo of me sleeping, I'm afraid I would have my mouth open (snoring....) So, I think this is a beautiful photo of you, Jan!
Have a wonderful new year.
Sending you hugs,
Jackie
Both photos are heartwarming. And real. I much prefer unstaged photos - and love both of these.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one finding travel to be a tedious undertaking the older I get. Perhaps you can Skype to see baby Alicia in action.
ReplyDeletei tend to curl my hand up under my chin when i sleep, too. you look worn out and needing that snooze - then with the baby, i can see why. :)
ReplyDeleteI support my chin when I sleep, or at least I'm aware that I start out that way :)
ReplyDeleteYou look comfortable.
Baby Alicia is a doll !

It's really a good picture... for sleeping, DJan. I think we rarely take good sleeping pics. And I too sleep with my hands under my cheek. I can understand that you miss watching Alicia grow. They grow so fast.
ReplyDeleteWell, you need to get those folks to send you more photos! Don't they live with a camera always handy like we do?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I want to see a photo of me sleeping.
The kids grow so fast. Cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteI don't think sleep flatters us at any age. Peter has the right idea to take some people photos that are not staged.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the advantages of having a daughter who uses Facebook. We see pictures of our grandchildren regularly. It's great!
ReplyDeleteAt least your mouth wasn't open. I often sleep with my hands near my face too. I have heard that people sleep in the position that was most comfortable for them in the womb:)
ReplyDeleteYour last photo is so cute! And you are brave to post a photo of yourself sleeping (although you look really good!)
ReplyDeleteAah you look so sweet asleep like that. I do the same thing with my hands because it's comforting.
ReplyDeleteAlicia is so sweet but you know what? I don't get many pics of Dylan anymore either!
Exactly. We've had many flights here and abroad but no more. Intimidating airports, uncomfortable seating and food unfit to eat. Enough....
ReplyDeleteAir travel used to be an adventure...now it's just a hassle. Too bad because there are still many places I would like to visit!
ReplyDeleteYou look so sweet when you are sleeping. I'd probably have my mouth hanging open, for sure--LOL! I LOVE the picture of you guys trying to get Alicia to crawl to you--priceless!!
ReplyDeleteTraveling certainly does get more exhausting the older we get. I'm glad you went on your turkish adventure when you did, though. ;) It does sound like you'd be better off visiting down south in the winter to avoid the worst of the heat and humidity. You'll go back some time, for sure. The pull will become stronger than the overwhelm of travel--LOL!
Happy New Year!! :)
What is so hilarious about the top photo is that you are sleeping with your glasses on. Lol.
ReplyDeleteA blogging friend said Youth was very slow and ponderous and not what she had expected at all. She did not recommend it.
ReplyDeleteAs for pictures of people asleep, never flattering unless it's a tiny baby.
Yes, you definitely need to go back and see the baby again. Maybe late spring, before the real heat sets in.
I sleep with the hand all contorted under my chin also. Then feel it in the morning! You manage to look lovely in your sleep... no gaping mouth.. no glistened line of drool.. No wait.. I'm confusing you with me. ;)
ReplyDeleteNot sure I would like a sneaky photo of myself asleep. You look so cosy no wonder you nodded off. Look at the joy on your face as you try to encourage Alicia to crawl. I think another trip is needed in the new year.
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens after you get home from a 5 - 10 mile hike!
ReplyDeleteYOUTH is alive and well here. My Niece's son, Evan has undergone 2 heart surgeries since his birth 15 months ago and he is just beginning to take running steps. It is so marvelous to receive the videos, see this healthy, beautiful boy, and watch him grow.... as we live quite a distance away....halfway cross Canada. Yep, YOUTH certainly is doing well and much happiness to you and yours (yous n yers) in the New Year DJan.
ReplyDeleteI think you look very lovely even when you're sleeping. I don't think I would look good at all. I haven't even see Star Wars yet and now Art is very sick and it might be a while. He caught some kind of intestinal thing. We can't figure it. I'm just trying to keep fluids down this throat. I know what you mean about travel. And you're having to travel all the way across the country. Granted it's even worse from Hawaii. :-(
