I almost forgot my blog post

Our group returning from our Thursday hike
Good grief, I almost forgot my post again today. I got involved in a thriller that I picked up at the library yesterday and am already halfway through. My sister got me involved with the author David Baldacci, and I had put a hold on his latest book awhile back, maybe two months ago. I was something like #149 in line (out of 22 books) and my name came up!

I only get to keep the book for two weeks, but I will actually be done with it before the day is over, I fear. The book is The Fix, the third in a series about Amos Decker. Baldacci likes to write numerous novels about his characters, so you get sort of involved with them, not to mention that he's one of those writers who knows how to make the book impossible to put down. At least for me.

Plus I am still in recovery mode after our Thursday hike. My friend Barb (who is not in the above picture because she took it) sent me some pictures from her phone, and since I'm in this one, I really like to look at it. I'm right in the middle of the lineup, fourth from the end. I couldn't very well say that I'm the one in the white hat, since most of us are wearing one.

Since my quads had been given quite a workout the week before, I thought that this week I'd escape the soreness, but no. I was so worn out on Thursday that I am still recovering, not just the legs, but general tiredness. This morning's walk with the ladies was lovely, however, and it did help me feel better. But I sure didn't mind curling up in my favorite chair with the book once I got home. Suddenly I realized that I had not written my Saturday post, slapped the book down and pulled out my laptop.

I'll bet you can guess what I'll be doing as soon as I finish this.
:-)

  1. Great pic, DJan. Looks like you had a beautiful day for the Thursday hike. As for getting back to your book, I know the feeling. I read every day... usually at night before bed, but occasionally during the day too. Love it when it's a book that I can't wait to get back to.

  2. Being distracted by a book is a lovely thing. And if it takes your mind off your pain even better. Rest up well. And hugs.

  3. I'm involved in a series of murder mysteries now and I am quite enjoying them too. A book on the patio and a glass of wine, nothing better. Enjoy! Rest and heal!

  4. There's a lot of comfort by being distracted by a good book.
Hope your pain subsides soon, take it easy for the next few days.

  5. A good book is a good enough excuse to forget about a post.

  6. We needed a few days to recover from our Mount Rainier hiking too. Today we were on our feet, touring gardens with quilts in Mukilteo. You will see posts when I get around to processing my hundreds of photos. I'll try to restrain myself.

  7. Enjoy the book! I always find now that if I really work hard one day I'm ready to take it easy the next day.

  9. Sounds like he's a real page-turner! Do they say that anymore. Rest up. You probably have gardening to do. ;)

  10. Ouch!! Sure hate those exercise hang overs. I have heard about Baldacci but have yet to try him. Maybe now I will. I love an author that makes me put everything aside but thier book.

  12. Sometimes, you can get carried away with daily life. Good that you did get to blogging anyhow.

  13. Ha ha ... I have certainly been guilty, more than once, of forgetting to post b/c my head was stuck in a thriller.

  14. It's always good to curl and with a great book to read. Even if there is no soreness.
I too like the top photo, it shows that some of the trail would really give you a good workout for sure.

  15. Dear DJan, I have my name on the library list for that book also. Right now I'm reading "The Black Widow" by Daniel Silva. He is one of my favorite writers and has kept my mind open about the Middle East and what is happening there. He's made things clearer for me and I know so much more about the two-state solution and why it hasn't happened--from both the Israeli and the Palestinian perspective. Besides that, Silva is a fine writer! This book is his 18th in the Gabriel Allon series. I've read it before but I wanted to read it again before reading this year's book--#19. It's so suspenseful that I had to put it aside to calm myself. that's why I'm reading postings! Peace.

I really appreciate your comments! If you see a word verification box here, just ignore it. I don't use the darn thing and Blogger is trying to get us to use it, I guess. Ignore it and your comment will still appear.
