Getting tired of all this sunshine

Whatcom Falls this morning
We are soon to get a break from all this unaccustomed sunshine that we've had for weeks and weeks. We did have a short respite when we got some rain (for a day) and it warmed up a little, but not for long. Then the deep freeze started up again. Last Thursday when I got up for our hike it was 12°F, but this morning it was 20°, so gradually it is getting back to our normal winter temperatures.

I wouldn't mind the sun so much if it wasn't accompanied by a cold north wind and ice everywhere. If you look carefully at the above picture, you can see lots of icicles, along with the beautiful rushing waterfall. I took this today while we were on our walk with the ladies (and our sometimes guy, Ray). For the first part of our walk, we saw no sun at all, but gradually it came up high enough for us to see it.

Now I don't want you to think that I'm going to start taking a lot of selfies, but here is one more, comparing this morning's look to the one I took last Thursday. I got some purple highlights in my hair yesterday, and I just had to show you the comparison. I am also wearing the same glasses, which are Transitions, obviously.
Fun!
I tried out a new stylist, Dyan, and she asked if she could also shape my eyebrows. I was very hesitant, but she didn't charge me and did it anyway. I like the look, and she knew I would, of course, and I will let her do it again. It's been so long since I've had any color in my hair at all that I was a little bit surprised at how much I like it!

Now, about that Tuesday post I didn't write. I'm beginning to get rather forgetful, it seems, and I think I'll just leave it off without any guilt whenever I don't post. Last week, I didn't even remember that it wasn't there until I went looking for it before I put up my Thursday hiking post. Oh, well, I'm probably the only one who lost any sleep over it. I'm willing to let it go. Or not.
:-)

  1. It's okay, you can just write when you feel like it, or have time. That's pretty much what I do, when I have time, I sit and write.

Purple hair is fantastic. My hairdresser and I have talked about putting a deep purple streak in with the red but have yet to actually do it. Maybe over the summer? Your purple is wonderful, I hope you get lots of people stopping you to tell you how wonderful you look.

  2. I was a bit taken aback by the purple hair. I love your white hair. But then I also love it that you take chances and have adventures. You just go ahead and do your thing!

  3. Omigosh, purple hair! I've been thinking (just once in a while) about doing something like that. Maybe I'll just do a temporary tint for Mardi Gras and see how I like it. When I saw your headline I thought you must be joking--who complains about too much sun!?! But when clear skies also bring strong wind and cold temps, I totally understand.

  4. Purple hair is you. I like it. Of course I love your white hair. Here's to more sunshine in your future because you can never have too much sunshine in the northwest.

  8. Not sure about the purple as I like the white, but I will say that it gives a bit of color to your face. I like my own white hair, but sometimes I feel a bit 'washed-out'. Besides, a bit of change is always good!

  9. All he girls are coloring their hair! As long as it makes you feel good then go for it! I struggled too long to get the blonde out of mine and have it all natural color which is nothing special. Some old ladies have blue or pink hair they use something as a rinse...it really shows up in Church!
I so need my brows done:)

  10. So that cold weather must be doing something for you that you will live dangerously and get purple hair. Try different stuff so you don't get stuck in a rut.

  12. I see the ice. And your hair suits you either way but the eyebrows are really a change and I like them too. I no longer use hair colour or any chemicals on my body as I adopted an all natural life style after cancer. Sometimes i miss using nail polish but not much else. I wear no make up or fragrances.

  13. I liked your white hair, but what the heck! Hair colors are not permenent. You might like it so much you change your color a lot and go pink or blue or orange or red... Life is short! Do what you want. Whoohoo! And don't stress about your self-made schedules. You were obviously happy and busy. ;)

  14. I'm partial to white hair as it gets lots of privileges but have to admit the purple really brings out the saucy in you plus it will go with a lot of your clothes. You go girl.

  15. You can send the sunshine over this way - it seems like we've had more than our fair share of clouds.

I like the purple! So fun.

  18. Love it. Looking at your new do, reminded me of a line I read a long time ago "When I am old, I shall wear purple". I am sure you have read the book. I would not complain if we had sun, after several weeks of ice storms and snow, I look forward to it. Nice "ice" falls.
