Inside the Hagia Sophia |
In Istanbul, I toured the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Cisterns, and both the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar. It was a lot to fit into two half-day tours, and I went to sleep in Istanbul on Monday night and slept fitfully before awaking to leave at 3:00am for the airport. I've been up ever since, and that was more than 24 hours ago. Forgive me for any typos or mistakes in this post, since I'm not even going to read it over but will crash in a few minutes. After eating, I really do feel like I might be half asleep already!
More later. And if all goes as planned, I'll have a Trailblazer hike to chronicle on Thursday! I'll fit in a couple of extra posts with some of my adventures. Until then...
:-)
hooray for a safe arrival home again! will look forward to seeing and hearing more about your tours. in the meantime, sleep for the next day and a half! :)

ReplyDeleteWelcome home! It wasn't that long ago that we spent 24 hours coming home from Rome. It's brutal, but being home is such a good feeling.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're safely back in the States...
ReplyDeleteREST, we'll ALL be looking forward to more travel photos when you feel up to doing so.
Welcome home DJan from your travels. Get some rest cause you gotta have super stamina to start stomping through those mountains once more. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. Hope you have a good night's sleep. Love your photo of the Blue Mosque.
ReplyDeleteThat was a jam packed trip, hard to see all. That pillow will feel good.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you back safe and sound. I thought you would sleep late today but see you are already up before 5 am :-) Maybe you are still on tomorrow-land clock? :-) Have a good day and get some rest!
ReplyDeleteThe Mosque is beautiful. Rest well with your wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteDJan, glad you have made it back safely. The Blue Mosque is quite lovely from the picture. Have a wonderful hike on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home -- seems like it was a fantastic trip. The closest I've ever gotten to Turkey is watching the movie Casablanca.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, DJan! Glad you made it back safe and sound... and just tired, but not sick, yes? As much as you may have enjoyed your adventure, I'll bet you're glad to be home again...
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it back, all safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteOh, so glad you are home safe!! I hope you got a lot of sleep. Will probably take a couple days to get oriented in time again. Can hardly wait to see and hear all about your trip. :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly did a lot in such a short time. I am pleased that this was a good trip for you – at least it sounds like it was. I am looking forward to read more about your trip to Turkey, and I know you’ll have posts. You are much better than me, as we went to Istanbul about 2 years ago and I have not written a post on it yet … But we came back to Nice in France, so the flight was not as long as yours. I can understand how exhausted you are. Take it easy.
ReplyDeleteWow! That definitely sounds like a lot to take in during 2 half-day tours! I'm happy to hear you got to see so much of Istanbul though, and even happier to hear your safely home! Rest up!!! I look forward to reading more! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and I hope you eventually get your sleep patterns back to normal. So glad you had a good and safe trip. Rest up gal, we can wait.
ReplyDeleteSo very glad to hear you are home safe and sound. And, by now I hope, somewhat rested. Looking forward to your highlight posts.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you arrived home safe and sound. Looking forward to the recaps of your trip!
ReplyDeleteI love it! We've been to all those places and I can't wait to see your photos. I'm so glad you got to see the cistern. I loved it when I read Dan Brown's latest book, Inferno and could picture the places he went to.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back safe and sound!
You don't miss a beat. :)
ReplyDeleteI've read backwards from your newest post to where I left off... what an adventure!
We just finally made travel plans for an adventure ourselves in April, not near as distant, but I hope to have much too learn once we're home as well! I love following up on the backgrounds and history of things we see when traveling. Once I've witnessed a place, I want to learn all about it! Travel is wonderful, it wakens my sense of wonder, keeps me curious and learning.
