|Starting my day|
Just got back from seeing Catching Fire, the second movie adapted from the Hunger Games trilogy of books written by Suzanne Collins. Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss Everdeen. I just learned that the third book in the series will be made into two more movies (sigh), I guess to capture maximum dollars from the audience. I won't miss either one, because I enjoyed the books and, so far, both movies. I was ready today with my ear plugs firmly settled in my ears. This film was so loud that I never took them out once the movie started, and I was glad I had them. It made me feel actually comfortable, although I jumped in my seat every now and then at scary parts. The ear plugs didn't make me miss a single word of dialog. I enjoyed it, but it's not the kind of movie that might keep me up at night wondering about it. Entertainment, pure and simple. And loud.
I've been getting a few things every day to prepare for our Thanksgiving dinner of salmon from my fisherman friend Gene (the fifth year in a row he has given us our sumptuous meal). We'll also have a nice green salad (with avocado of course) and a squash casserole as in past years. It's going to be a lot of food for the two of us, but we will definitely enjoy a fine Thanksgiving feast together.
I won't be going on a hike on Thursday, but I'm hoping that maybe Al will get something going for Friday. Otherwise, I'll be going through withdrawal.
What a beautiful start to your day.ReplyDelete
I hope that Al doesn't let you down - withdrawal is soooo painful.
salmon sounds like a great thanksgiving meal - especially caught by a friend. truly a gift. :)ReplyDelete
Sounds like a tasty and healthy meal.ReplyDelete
Man-Child just got home for the holiday - and the first thing he said was that he wanted to go see that movie. Silly boy...doesn't he realize we are moving this weekend? But, being the doting mom that I have become since he headed off to college - we probably will find the time. Hopefully.ReplyDelete
Yes, we are definitely having your weather here - while you are enjoying ours. I'm ready to switch already.
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving, D'Jan and know that I will be giving many thanks for having you in my life.
Have a great Thanksgiving. Now you didn't mention shopping or football?ReplyDelete
Gorgeous sunrise. I can relate to enjoying those semi-regularly nowReplyDelete
I haven't been out to a movie in a while now but yes, they sure are loud. I never thought of earplugs before. Good idea.
Your Thanksgiving meal sounds like it will be so yummy.
Gorgeous sunrise! I enjoyed the trilogy, too. Now I've got your review so I'll definitely see Catching Fire.ReplyDelete
I want to see Catching Fire as well. Enjoyed all the books, much to my surprise. I initially read them as I kept having to tell all the kids in the middle school where I was subbing to quit reading so they could listen to my lesson. Finally read what they were reading and understood their hesitance to take part in the classroom.ReplyDelete
Chances are you'll only see sunrise photos from me. So not a morning person. Wish I were.
Your sunrise is beautiful! Salmon sounds wonderful for Thanksgiving dinner. We will have turkey at our daughters. I am making spaghetti squash, pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie tomorrow...it is baking day here...hopefully it won't take all day. Hope you get a hike in so you aren't cranky:)ReplyDelete
have not seen catching fire...i enjoyed hunger games...really kinda stinks they are splitting the last book....def think that is a scam to get the dough...ReplyDelete
we got your cold...and ice and freezing rain...blech...i want white stuff...smiles...
What a delightful sunrise!ReplyDelete
It seems like lots of things will be happening for your Thanksgiving, Hope you enjoy everything.
I saw the first CATCHING FIRE movie, and it was very interesting. I suppose I'll try to see the second one, too. And the third, and fourth.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
I have been missing the sunrises because I am sleeping so well I'm not up yet. That's a good thing. And this morning we had heavy fog.ReplyDelete
If Al doesn't get a hike together, you could go shopping. As an early riser, you could get some good deals! But knowing you, maybe not.:-)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Smart Guy!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, DJan. The salmon sounds wonderful. I'll start my turkey brine tomorrow.ReplyDelete
I hate loud music and loud dialog so I am glad you wore ear plugs. Good idea! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband, DJan!ReplyDelete
I also enjoyed reading and viewing the hunger games thus far. Wow, salmon sounds like a fine dish for thanksgiving dinner....then there's always salmon sandwiches with the leftovers - just like the turkey. DJan, you could always walk the perimeter of the complex you live in a dozen times or so to help the withdrawal :) I do not even want to be in Calais come - Black Friday - its like a woman war there in the stores - Happy Thanksgiving to you.ReplyDelete
Lovely morning sky shot!ReplyDelete
I haven't been to a movie theater for years. I'd probably go into shock--LOL! Sometimes I guess it's nice to wait and watch them at home with volume where you want it. ;)
Sounds like a really nice Thanksgiving meal. I hope you get to hike on Friday. Wouldn't want you going through withdrawal. ;)
What a gorgeous sunrise! We have been have below freezing temps with lots of freezing fog. We get to warm up briefly over the weekend before the cold fronts moves in the first of the week.ReplyDelete
I haven't seen Catching Fire yet but I understand it's better than the first one.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
