My first Washington state caucus

My caucus location
This morning I only made one trip around the lake with the ladies, since I didn't want to be late to the Democratic Caucus, my precinct location being at the local middle school. When I walked in, early, parking was still available but within a very short period of time there were people streaming in who had no place to park. Once during the meeting an announcement was made to plead with those who parked in the convalescent home across the street to move their cars.

I was very interested in the process, but I left after the first tally. We had, just in our little precinct, 134 for Bernie and 11 for Hillary. I saw Bernie stickers everywhere, but none for Hillary. It's actually an interesting phenomenon to have TWO good candidates to choose from, and I would happily vote for either one. I've been feeling the Bern lately myself. There, I said it. That's the most politics you'll get from me, though.

Today my friend Judy and I are going to see that new movie that Sally Field is in, Hello, My Name is Doris. We saw the previews and decided it looked like it would be fun. It's billed as a comedy, but we'll see if we think it's funny. It will be a good way to spend the rest of the day; today is known as Holy Saturday, between Good Friday and Easter. I'd better find some chocolate for tomorrow; I never deprive myself on Easter!
:-)

  1. It's such an interesting process you use to pick the ultimate candidates. We have nothing similar, but it's interesting to watch. Happy Easter! Beautiful sunny day now here and the ice is all melting.

  2. The process of selecting candidates is so long there but many people get involved. That is great.

Enjoy the chocolate, the movie and Easter.

  4. Like The Furry Gnome, we have nothing similar over here. I am watching with interest. And anxiety.
Enjoy your movie, and your chocolate.

  5. I think I'm more of a Hillary person myself, but still, congrats on your great participation. And congrats on the win -- I think Bernie killed in Washington State, didn't he?

  6. You have a great challenge as to who to chose. You seem to have an extra step in your political process. It was the first time my daughter voted since she got her citizenship. she was surprised by all the things you have to vote for. there are many things we don't vote for. we don't elect judges.

I hope you have a great time.

  8. I wish the Oregon primary election was held earlier....I'm with you, the Dems have two good candidates. Did you see that Bernie was in Portland on Friday and a bird landed on his podium? #birdiesanders :)

  9. As you saw from Facebook, I went to our caucus too. I also posted on my blog about my experience. It was quite different from yours.
I want to see that movie too, but I don't think it's a pay full theater price movie, so I'll wait.

  11. I thought of you today, thinking you probably went and enjoyed the process. I do like Bernie and his positions on nearly everything, but I'll vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination, and then hope that the movement Bernie has started continues on.

  12. We went with mom today to our Democratic Preference Poll. It's not actually a caucus, but Hawaii's way to select delegates. It was extremely disorganized and frustrating. Lots of misinformation was going around. However it got done after a bad fall from mom and trip to the ER. WHAT a day it's been. And yes, I'll have to write a post about it. Sigh.... Once I have enough energy again.

  13. I have never attended Caucus's or Rally's for anyone as I actually felt that is the only time you see "those" people. You're like sand, blown and lost in the wind, when they leave. I would have gone to the Movies with you though. Looking forward to your review. Cheers and Happy Day.

  14. I agree that Hilary and Bernie are 2 good candidates... and I am also interested in seeing the Sally Field's movie (although I'll probably wait for the DVD). And so glad to hear that you don't deprive yourself of chocolate on Easter!

  15. Bernie won here in Hawaii. It was a landslide. I probably will vote for a Democrat in the general election.

  16. I have always wondered how a caucus works and only have an episode of the Good Wife as a gauge. Really unique. We do ballots here.
I'm a Hillary gal but it looks like she didn't do well in the last three states including yours.
Let us know how the movie was.

  17. It is a tough time for the next US leader and I am wishing Hillary might get to the top just because she's spent a lot of time aiming for it and no gal has had that role. She's capable.
I do not like your long costly draw out process though

  18. I was wondering if you'd gone to the caucus! Good for you. Would love to experience the process!

  19. I agree with you, either Bernie or Hillary...Let us know how the movie is. A lot of hype about it. I like Sally Field, so plan on seeing it...No caucus in my state, only a primary in June. Usually means nothing, but this year might be different.
