Long weekend

Leo showing off his t-shirt
I laughed at Leo's shirt at the coffee shop and asked if I could take his picture. He said sure and then promptly sat down and stuck his knees underneath, so the shirt looks a little funnier even. Two big smiles in that shot. You might notice the little tiny leaves on the ground behind him: they are starting to fall from the trees outside, a sure sign that fall is not far away.

This morning the ladies and I went more than six miles at a fast pace. Everyone was uncertain about what the weather would do, with showers in the forecast, but most of us decided to take a chance on it being dry so we could leave our rain gear in our cars. And it turned out to be perfect: overcast with a light breeze, no rain at all. It won't be long, though, before the rain makes it here. The weather maps show rain at times for the entire holiday weekend, in our part of the country at least.

It's been a wonderful summer, and I'm hoping for two more months of nice weather. This weekend doesn't look good for skydiving, but the long-range forecast looks pretty enticing. I have decided that yes, indeed, this will be it for me, and I'll take some advice from Arkansas Patti at The New Sixty and quit while I'm ahead. Of course, I've still got two months to go in the skydiving season, and I plan to be careful. Promise.
:-)

  3. Leo is such a cutie.
Our trees are starting to leaf out, and bud burst is imminent for many of the blossoming trees. Which is blissful. I am happy to wait (a long time) for summer though.

  4. Falling leaves reminds me of the Midwest, as I am sure they are now harvesting and getting ready for fall.

  5. Leo is adorable. What a killer smile.
I must say I am glad you are quitting while you are ahead. Now all your memories of diving will be marvelous ones and it won't be a sprung knee that makes you quit. You are doing it on your terms.

  10. We got that rain this afternoon. It will soften up the ground so I can pull some weeds in the morning. I feel the change of the season starting and I don't look forward to it. I was just getting used to tank tops and shorts. I may need to join Linda in Arizona!

  12. I can feel fall as well. So sudden! Hopefully the grapes and corn will finish ripening.

I must say I'm ready not to water.

Glad I got to watch you skydive a couple of years ago. What a joy it has been for you!

  14. Leo is really growing up! The weather is most definitely on the change but today I have woken to glorious blue skies so I am off walking whilst it lasts.

  15. My goodness, Leo is growing fast. I remember his younger photos and I must say that shirt and smiles are precious. Get your umbrella out - we're going to get wet too way out here in the East. Happy Long weekend lol

  16. I agree with Patti. Absolutely be careful please.

Fall already? Can't be. We've got too much on our plate for fall.

    Leo is such a cutie!

  17. That Leo is just a little doll! :)
    Leaves falling--oh my!
I trust you to be careful. I know you wouldn't want your walking and climbing mountains to be put in jeopardy. Enjoy your week, my friend. :)

  18. Leo reminds me of my Dylan - both charmers par excellence! Love your coffee shop. We have so much of that here in England so I'm used to it but I didn't see it so much when I was living in America. We used to go to Borders on Saturday afternoons until it closed and then we migrated to Barnes and Noble

  20. I thought of you the other day when I was at physical therapy and my doctor was teaching me an exercise called the Sky Diver. It's one of the harder ones he showed me and I wondered if sky diving really does involve engaging the core muscles as much as that exercise does.

I hope you're lucky enough to get two more months of nice weather. I'm hoping for a long, sunny fall this year. Winter can wait.

  21. He's such a doll!!! Love his smile.

And glad you had perfect weather for the long weekend. Also, in your decision to stop skydiving...we support you in every way. This door closed, but another one will open to new adventures.

  22. Leo is just a little cutie. How is he enjoying school?

The drought here is so bad that most people are not thinking about planting anything but rather taking out their yards and putting in succulents and rock.
