Feeling a little sheepish

Nails in Seahawk colors
Yes, I've caught the Seahawk fever! Now that they are going to the Superbowl, on a whim I went off to the local nail salon and got a manicure and fingernails painted in Sehawk blue and green. I know they won't last until the Superbowl itself, but I've already had more fun out of this adventure than I expected. The manager asked me if I'd like a picture of the Seahawk logo on my nails, too, and I was astounded to learn that one of their artists could draw it right on the nail!

She would have done all ten of my nails if I chose, at only $3 each. I watched her paint this tiny little image one step at a time in just a few minutes. She put one on each of my thumbnails and then placed me under a platform with a warm fan to dry the nails, but of course I'm feeling a little scared to mess them up, since the polish takes a few hours to dry completely, and I don't want to alter the artist's work.

I am really surprised at how cheap all this fun is. The workers are, in my opinion, working for next to nothing giving women manicures and pedicures. Actually, I had never before had a manicure and now I think I may be hooked. I'll be back, that's for sure, if only to get a more reasonable (I mean less flashy) paint job. But for the moment, I'm intending to have a lot of fun with these nails for the next few days. Go Hawks!
:-)

  1. That's a cute approach to team spirit. It's fun to be loyal to a cause, lost or otherwise. Since I don't have a favorite in that contest, good luck to everyone. It is an uplifting experience to get manicures and pedicures. After 25 years of twice a month manicures, I gave up that at the same time I gave up wearing heels and skirts when I retired.

  2. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, DJan....do I love this idea or what?!!! Last week I did my toenails [and picture on my blog] in Bronco Blue and Orange Crush. But now I'm thinking about the Bronco Horse which I dearly love.

You're right in with the fans now!!! But, Ummmm, GO BRONCOS. lol

  3. From your previous post, I would never have thought you would get this "involved." A mistaken conclusion on my part.

We all have our particular (and perhaps peculiar) way of cheering for our teams. So, DJan, sit back and watch the blue team win.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  5. Wonderful to find joy in little things. I admire the art. David is disappointed that the 49ers did not win. Ah, well, it's just a game. Lol.

  7. Lol, you are a wild and wonderful lady :)
Love those nails, and yes, those ladies work extremely hard in not so safe conditions in my opinion.
    Show off your nails !

  10. Love the nails!
I succumbed a few years ago to decadence and get a manicure occasionally. Most of the girls are recent immigrants. I feel I am helping them get a foothold on life in the good ole USA. I tip well because the cost is cheap - at least in my area - and the boss gets most of it.

  11. Linda mentioned the fever pitch. Good to see you have caught a bit of it. Love those nails.
Someday I really want to have mine professionally done.

  12. Oh how fun!! Here's how you preserve that manicure as long as you can. Every day or so, put a clear topcoat on it and it will last longer.

Next time you go ask them about a gel polish; I hear that stuff will last for weeks!

  14. Love the nails, and I am so happy that you enjoyed the manicure experience. You need to pamper yourself as often as possible. You deserve it.
I'm cheering for Payton Manning and the Denver Broncos. I know that will be fine with you though, 'cause blogging friends are friends in spite of a football game's outcome.
I might have been to the point that I didn't care who won the super bowl until Sherman showed himself after the Seattle/San Francisco game. He was such a poor sport, and it turned me against the Seahawks because of him. I wonder if his teammates support his tirades? Just wondering.
    Hugs,
    Jackie

  16. Too funny and fun, DJan! It's hard not to get caught up in the fever, don't you think? I'll bet Linda Reeder's family might like to do the same thing. I remember how excited we were when the Bears won the Super Bowl so MANY years ago. Then there was the Bulls. Sigh... I'm really excited for all you Seattle fans.

  18. What fun. And I don't think there is enough fun (or silliness) in most people's lives - so go for it.

  19. How fun, and looking so sporty!
    Love your nails, DJan.
I felt the same when I had my first pedicure a few months ago - so surprised at how nice & fun it was.
I haven't had another yet, but come springtime, I'm on it!

  20. Oh DJan, I love your nails. What a fun thing to do. I haven't had a professional manicure in years but seeing yours gives me inspiration.

  21. Hi DJan,

Love the nails and your enthusiasm for your team. Stay away from the gel polish that were recommended - they damage your real nails.

I think everyone was a bit disappointed in your guys behavior after the game, but they are still willing to pay him a gazillion $$ to do what he does. Good luck at the Super Bowl - I have no dog in the race this year.

  22. Well fancy that! I didn't expect you to do anything like that. So frivolous, but why not? Enjoy it while it lasts. Perhaps it will last longer than you think.

  23. Oh, I love it! We must go a little wild once in a while, right? :):)

  24. Well you are all set now! I do my own manicures it is easy...It was one thing I learned to do years ago in the few weeks I attended beauty school. That is some artist to do the SeaHawk Logo! I buy special nail decals to glitz up my clear polish:)

  25. Dear DJan, Go Seahawks!!!!!!! I like your winning attitude! And I can just see you flashing your fingernails around in a conversation so as to show your Seahawk support! Peace.

  26. You have me laughing out loud! I would never have guessed it of you!
    Very cool.
I am finally settled down from Sunday's game. I wanted that win so much for my city. Jill said after the game the people just filled into the city yelling and singing and hugging. She said she must have hugged a hundred strangers.

  27. Hi DJan, I didn't realize you were that much of a Hawk fan! Wow, way to go! Go Hawks!!!! And yes, we have sure had some beautiful sunsets recently. Thanks for stopping by John's Island! John

  28. I don't think I know of anyone who has more fun every day than you do. You're a hoot. :) I hope your Seahawks win.. but of course I'd say that to most anyone who is gung-ho on having their team win. From someone who isn't interested in sports and/or who wins what, it's at least fun to be supportive to those who care enough to paint their nails in team colours and logos! :)

  29. I love your nails! Way to show your team spirit. Around here many of my friends are sporting Broncos colors on their fingernails.

Be careful. Mani's and pedi's can be addictive. I don't get manicures as often because I don't have the patience to wait for the polish to completely dry. When I do, I get gel manicures because they dry quickly and last longer. Pedicures are one of my small pleasures in life. I get one every month or so.
