Reading reviews when buying online

Nice looking latte
My barista likes to make pretty designs in my daily latte. Sometimes they are so nice it makes it hard to drink it, but I manage. It's fun to watch an artist at work.

I'm in the process of trying to decide which kind of belt to buy that will hold my phone, keys, and small wallet with credit cards, so that I can exercise without having to wear a fanny pack (that tends to bounce up and down) and still have my phone with me. Since I discovered that I need it with me in order to count my steps, I've become rather obsessive and most workout clothes don't come with pockets. So... I've discovered on Amazon something called a Flipbelt, which looks intriguing. Unfortunately, there are more than 2,000 customer reviews, and I am not willing to read every one. It pulls on over your head (or you step into it, whichever) and doesn't have an opening, so buying the right size is critical.

Then there's another one that has a zipper closing, and it looks pretty interesting, too. It's called a FitBelt, and it only has 300 reviews. But again, getting the right size is very important for satisfaction. I've just about narrowed down my choice to the first, but I wondered if any of my readers have any ideas about either one, or even some other option. These days having something that will keep your iPhone 6 or 6+ safe while keeping it with you must have been solved already.

Oh, and by the way: I hope everyone has safe travels on their way to Grandmother's house, or wherever else you might be going for Thanksgiving. It's here, almost!
:-)

  1. I am clueless, but am sure that one (at least) of your readers will be able to help.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

  3. I think they make a wrist wallet check on Amazon. I would buy something to wear or have something custom made with pockets...a vest maybe....lightweight. Of course you could always sew pockets inside your bra:) I have a Fitbit Flex and like it just fine:) No phone and most always have pockets...you could stitch that fanny pack down on a lightweight coat:)

  4. We got a fitbit -- had to guess on the size of that but there were only two options -- but, sorry, don't know anything about the fitbelt. Good luck ... and have a great T''giving!

  5. Sorry, no help here. But when a lot of reviews, I like to check the poor ratings, sometimes get an idea of problems you might want to avoid.

  6. No clue, as I'm not as into fitness as I should be...but the Husband has a fitbit and he loves it! He puts it on and the "dongle" (fitbit word) tracks everything. Almost makes me want one...

  8. I've heard of those belts that you can stash keys, credit cards etc from running websites. Never tried one myself.

  10. I like to wear pants with pockets. The last time I went to Talbots I made that a priority. Any pair I tried had to have pockets. I ended up with three new pair of pants. I carry my phone in my pocket, because like you, I like to have steps counted. I'm thinking an Apple watch is what I really need, though.

  11. I am no help but I do think the belt is a fantastic idea!! I would think you'd be okay with either of them. You can get a pretty accurate size and just go for it. I'd probably go for the one with no zipper, too--just because the zipper could possibly dig into you. Whichever one you choose I hope it works well for you. :)

  12. I don't read 2,000 reviews, or even 300, but I LOVE having customer reviews to help with buying decisions. Did that just today when looking for a pharmacy-style floor lamp...people brought up issues I would never have thought of. A belt sounds like a great idea given the amount of trekking you do...a great investment in comfort.

    And Happy Thanksgiving!

  13. I'll bet $10 you will eventually end up with some kind of true wearable. A Fitbit might get you by for now, and I've heard that Garmin has some very nice exercise watches. Personally, I'm holding out for the next version of the Apple Watch, as I've heard the current version has a very slow processor and too many complaints.

  14. Long time no see....I've been absent from blogging for quite some time and stopped in at the MacGregor's blog and saw you there. Just thought I'd drop in to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

  15. Art always clicks on the 1 star first to check out what the first few complaints were. Then he clicks on the 5 star reviews and sort of evens out his decision.
