It's getting spooky out there

Keith's front porch
My neighbor Keith decorates every Halloween and Christmas with lots of stuff to mark the seasons. Many of my other neighbors might put up a wreath, or one carved pumpkin, but he goes all out. All those pumpkins were grown in his garden plot, and it made me wonder what he ended up doing with all the pulp and seeds. Anyway, I see his front yard every time I walk up the stairs to my apartment, and it makes me smile to see his handiwork.
Lake Padden reflections
It was foggy as I drove to Lake Padden for our Saturday morning walk, but before we had finished going around twice, it was still overcast but the fog had lifted. I took this picture as soon as I arrived, right before 8:00am. I like the way it looks a little spooky and feels just right for the season, don't you think?

Although it was quite chilly this morning, we still haven't had a frost, so there are some trees that are still hanging onto their green leaves. I have a feeling that by the time we reach next Saturday, which will be Halloween, that may have changed. We have rain and colder weather on the way.

  1. The photo of the lake is like an advert for winter. Your neighbour must have spent hours carving out those pumpkins.

  5. 83 degrees here this afternoon. I have one pumpkin on the porch, uncarved. We are thinking of not doing trick or treat this year as we have a crack in our sidewalk coming up to the porch and I'm afraid some small child might trip on it.

  8. I just read in the paper that someone may have taken Halloween decorating a little too far. I guess saran wrapped corpses hanging upside down in a tree are scaring the little ones. But some big ones just love it. Thanks for dropping by my new writing blog DJan!

  9. Pumpkins have appeared on our porch!
I like the photo too. There's just something about a misty morning in Autumn.

  12. Some people go all out for all the different holiday decorations. I did all the pumpkin carving with Dagan when he was little and we decorated the windows and door. Dagan and Leah are now doing that with Ian. :)

  14. It's so much fun to see what folks do for Halloween. I put a few mini decorations outside of my apartment door for the little guy across the hall to enjoy. That lake is lovely.. and yes, very much in the mood for the season.

  15. I am VERY impressed that your neighbor actually grew all those pumpkins! That's impressive.
I'm a huge Halloween fan but I wish we got more than a few kids for tricks and treats. My decorations are enough to say "come get some candy" but I don't carve pumpkins anymore. But it's not too late. I might change my mind!

  16. I LOVE all the Halloween decorations. We don't decorate as much in Hawaii or at least where we live. The funny thing is they celebrate Halloween on Thursday in PA. Why? I have no idea.
