The walking group this soggy Saturday morning |
I suppose I should stop being surprised at the hardiness of my fellow walkers. This morning we had fifteen women show up in the rain for our annual walk through the cemetery on Halloween.
Last year we did this the day before Halloween, but today our Saturday walk fell right on the day. It was foggy last year and made for some great pictures. Today it was just... wet.

The Bayview Cemetery on Halloween |
By the time we reached the cemetery itself, the rain had lessened a great deal and even stopped for a short time. We had some nice conversations, but by the time the rain began to pick up again, we were ready to stop and make our way to the coffee shop to dry out.

Whatcom Falls on 31 October 2015 |
When we walked by Whatcom Falls, I was pleased to see that we have some water cascading over the falls again. This had dried up to practically nothing during the drought we had this summer, so now it looks much more normal to me. I was pleased with the picture, too. So, all in all it was a good time to head out for a nice 4.4-mile walk in the rain. I think now I'll head downtown to see if there are any people walking around in cool costumes, now that the rain has let up.
:-)
well, at least the rain has let up for the party people. you hardy folks made do just fine. :)
ReplyDeleteI stood out on the soccer field sidelines in my poncho letting the rain pour and the wind blow as I watched Irene's team play and visited with my daughter. Supporters gotta' support.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to enjoy Halloween.....
ReplyDeleteYes, you are a group of strong ladies and I commend you for that.
Thank you for the sweet sentiments, it lessens the pain :)
Hugs,
~Jo
I love that you continue walking, whatever the weather.
ReplyDeleteSo very glad that the falls are back.
Hugs.
How nice you are getting rain. We have some forecast for next week, but who knows if it will really happen. It has gotten cooler which has helped hold the moisture from watering the lawns.
ReplyDeleteLots of smiles from the group despite the rain.
ReplyDeleteRaining here today too, I did a morning walk in a misty rain:)
ReplyDeleteYou and your friends are hardy to be walking in this rain! I like your idea of a cemetery walk for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI love to walk in the rain...alone! What do you think and introvert would do?
ReplyDeleteVery little walking for me today. But I worked on my travel book, so does that count as "virtual walking"?
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhh, to have a waterfall again...no more drought. Fantastic. A soggy, gloomy wet day to walk a cemetery is perfect for a Halloween adventure.
ReplyDeleteI love that waterfall, too. It's a happier scene than one of a dried up fall.
ReplyDeleteYou're not only very hardy, you're also very courageous! And the photo of the cemetery looks very "Halloweenish"
ReplyDeleteI always like to walk in a cemetery on Halloween too. We walked in one near our house, the kind you drive by regularly but never enter. Yesterday was the day. The resident with the oldest passing was in 1849. (that I could read) I also spotted a birth of 1788. So interesting. Thanks so much for your visits to my writing blog!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked cemeteries. The falls look great right now. Was a good walk for you hardy souls. :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you all, walking despite the rain and gloom.
ReplyDeleteYou and your group really ARE true trekkers!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why you are surprised at the hardiness of your fellow trekkers when you accept your own so matter of factly. You always impress me with what you accomplish in a week. Your photo of the falls is lovely... and I love checking out cemeteries too. There's a lovely old one nearby and now I'm kicking myself for not thinking of walking there on Halloween. Maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteHardy, intrepid, indomitable, courageous, tenacious, fearless, strong, healthy! You guys are all of that. I so admire your energy.
