Local library Christmas tree |
The skies were overcast when I met my Saturday walking group early this morning, but it wasn't raining. More than twenty of us spent a couple of hours on a brisk walk in my beautiful part of the world. Judith's pink jacket added a perfect spot of color as I grabbed this shot on the fly. It was cool and damp, but the rain didn't start until we were just a short distance from the coffee shop where we began.
Once I got a cup of coffee, I headed to the balcony to take a picture of my fellow walkers as they purchased their own coffee, but my camera lens had fogged up. I was amazed at this otherworldly picture I captured. Notice the three lights on the right-hand side? Here they are again as my camera began to defog, with just enough blurriness left over to soften the edges.
My camera is back to normal again, but I was quite pleased with the effect. The woman in line with the white hair is Cindy, our leader. She decides where we will walk and sends us an email reminder the day before, since we meet in a different place each week. I've learned about many wonderful walks around town from her.
Now I'm home and have downloaded my pictures and am busy writing this post as I listen to the continuing rain. After having been out and about, it sure is nice to be warm and cozy now! Until next time, I hope you stay warm and cozy too.
:-)
ha that is a pretty cool effect the fog gave....did you say coffee, yum....smiles....and i think it is important that we do make room for something new...there is some wisdom in that...smiles..
ReplyDeletehave a very merry christmas djan
jealous of your rain! but glad you got in a walk, too. the fogged lens made for some cool photos. :)
ReplyDeletei think it was our present world that misinterpreted the mayan calendar thing all along. doomsdayers...
I'm so glad you posted a picture of the library's Christmas tree. I enjoy seeing how inventive people can be.
ReplyDeleteGreat book tree! Yes we are warm and cozy here..the oven was on most of the day:)
ReplyDeleteAs I read this post Buddy and I have the radio on and Jingle Bell Rocks just played. We are hearing all sorts of lovely carols and classical music too. Some songs bring tears to our eyes from past fond memories. That you have a leader makes so much sense because it helps in getting a move on. Buddy keeps me marching. And his love for this time of year has me smiling.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite good with that camera, Jan. I especially love the first photo...the one you said you "grabbed...on the fly." Well, if that's grabbing on the fly, I think you need to hang out your photographer's shingle; you're good, girl!
ReplyDeleteStay warm...and send us some of that rain!
Hugs and smiles,
J.
Merry Christmas D'Jan! I haven't been able to keep up with my reading and posting lately, but I WILL catch up after Christmas. Have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteA new leaf....sounds very good to me! I'm so ready to switch to a new leaf in the page of life.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of warmth ...it's a warm looking coffee shop.
ReplyDeleteMinus 19 here for a high ...so I'll stay in and keep warm, although I was out and it's not bad. I had to shovel snow.
I love the tree made of books. It is very clever.
ReplyDeleteNew beginnings are good. I like that concept.
With all of our family activities, it will have to be the new year before I turn over my new leaf. And then it will be back to counting calories for sure, and pursuing the exercise with renewed vigor.
ReplyDeleteThere was no time to take advantage of the dry weather we had here today, even a few sun rays got through. Maybe tomorrow. The "To Do' lists are long again now that Christmas is almost here, and I am the host of all of the festivities.
Warm and cozy on this end, though the rain seems to be never-ending... Along with the wind! I've been out in it all day, so it is nice to be home and tucked in - having a Christmas movie marathon with the Pixie Household. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a little chilly over here in Hawaii, but we don't get much fog. I love the effect on your camera. It has a very ethereal look to it.
ReplyDeleteWe got out for a walk ourselves today, though it was short. Husband Art slipped on the ice on our front stairs yesterday and is pretty stiff and sore. Still, the walk was a nice break from the rain.
ReplyDeleteThat library tree is a welcoming sight, isn't it?
I love, love, love the library tree. As always, thank you so much for taking me on your walks - I love them.
ReplyDeleteHave a truly magical Christmas and yes, cyber hugs from here.
I love the library tree!!
ReplyDeleteI have so many books, I might do that next year
bug hugs from me and Hope
Book trees seem to be the coming thing, and a good thing too.
ReplyDeleteI could probably build one that reached our eight-foot ceiling and still have leftovers. There's a starting place for turning over a new leaf!
Looks like you have fully recovered from the flu and have the energy to hike in cold weather. Way to go, DJan!
ReplyDeleteI love cosy places at any time of the year and your coffee shop looks so cosy.
ReplyDeleteOur weather has turned mild and the wind has dropped but no snow is forecast for Tuesday. Oh well!
Love the library's Christmas Tree.
Love the foggy effect of your photos! Particularly right now that Alicante is covered by the weirdest layer of fog ever! :p
ReplyDeleteGreat effects on that photo! Like you, I'm getting ready for new chapters, too!
ReplyDeleteHoliday best to you, DJan!
I really like those shots DJan. It looks like Mother Nature gave you some nice special effects.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold and rainy over this way too. Enjoy your warm and cozy spot, I know I'm enjoying mine. We might have a white Christmas here.
Merry Christmas!
Delightful pictures, DJan.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a delightful Christmas and wonderful 2013. (I still haven't figured out what happened to 2012!)
Happy holidays DJan! Your comments always bring a smile. And so does your blog. I can see right through the fog into your heart.
ReplyDeleteThe fog effect was rather otherworldly. ;)
ReplyDeleteI heard, too, that we have started a new chapter and that the vibrational energy of the earth has been raised up. I like that!!
Merry Christmas!! :)
