Pink snow? |
I learned that two dear friends of Eike Hohenadl (referring to my last post) drove from southern California to Arizona to pick up his gear and car, so that his wife of many years would not have to. I also learned that he was observed to be completely unresponsive under canopy, so he probably had a wonderful skydive where he performed impeccably, and for whatever reason lost consciousness as soon as he opened his parachute. The landing was not the reason for his death, so I'm comforted, in a way, knowing that Eike probably never knew what happened.
Now, that said, I want to state right here that, even though it might have been right for him, that's not how I want to leave this life. We were of a similar age, and I realize anew that I've made the right decision for this to be my final season in the skydiving arena. Never does one door close but that another opens. Who knows what is next for me? I'm looking forward to finding out!
:-)
Love your pink confetti/snow. And your wonderful open door philosophy. I am anxious to see where your door takes you...
ReplyDeleteGood decision, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOne of mom's happiest memories was hanafubuki during our Seattle/Vancouver trip. Hanafubuki is a flower blizzard. We walked through the cherry blossom petals falling all around us. It was magical.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry this is your last season, but relieved too. I'm also glad your friend probably did not die from the impact. That is some comfort.
well, glad to hear the fall didn't kill him - that his spirit was already free before then. :)
ReplyDeletesmiles...we have the same here...i love the blossom rain...i did not know the name for it so i am thankful kay shared that....very cool....enjoy your final season...and i am sure you will find a new adventure soon enough...
ReplyDeleteYou made the best decision to quit at the end of the present year. That way you can enjoy your last year to the fullest. As you say new doors will open.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear! At first I thought your snow had been subjected to some form of unique air pollution. Then I realize it was not snow at all. I did remind me, though, that my parents lived in a highly industrialized city prior to my birth. The snow came down grey or black, not white.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the insightful news about Eike Hohenadl.
Blessings and Bear hugs, DJan.
I couldn't help but think that you had made that decision at the right time, also. I'm glad there's some comfort to knowing that how things occurred.
ReplyDeleteWe've got the same mounds of petals, but they won't last long here. One gust of wind and they will all be over the next county.
ReplyDeleteI admire that you made a reasoned decision to give up sky diving. Better to leave it on your own terms. I look forward to seeing what new passion will develop.
Hanafubuki, what a wonderful term. We are just beginning our pink snow here and it is lovely although I do hate to see the blooms go.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good philosophy to have DJan, I know something exciting is waiting for you.
It will be interesting to see what is in store for you, DJan.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink snow!
ReplyDeleteAnd reading further about the death, I feel your decision is a good thing....and as you say, one door closes while another opens for you and your adventurous ways.
Looks wonderful to me..I love it when it rains petals and the air is filled with them!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear it was not the fall that killed your friend, I am certain that must be some comfort to his wife.
I think everyone should die doing something they like, it sure would be better than lingering.
As for your decision...it is just that yours..we reader are selfish and worry about you.:)
Love your pink snow. Here we have white snow. It snowed last night. You know; it's Colorado.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to ponder about your friend's death. I am so sorry for his family and friends, and am relieved that he was not killed by the landing.
It is always good to know when it is time to hang "it" up. "It" can be a multitude of things and activities. For you, it was skydiving.
I was kind of hoping that would have been the case with your friend. I am glad you have made your decision and are comfortable with it. That is how I felt when I parked my motorcycle the last time. It had been a grand ride but there were other things out there.
ReplyDeleteThe door that opens for you next will undoubtedly be pure Sagittarian!
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly not ready for you to "take a dive" on us. Lead with your head and your heart will follow.
ReplyDeleteThat pink blossom is lovely isn't it. We are having it here too although for us it is mainly cherry blossom. Larry's allergies are in full song too, sadly and he's suffering with our pollen over here, which is different to what he's used to but just as annoying. Keep taking the tablets. Soon it will be over, we hope.
ReplyDeleteMy latest improvement for allergies is again MSM crystals that I take for a different ailment but was surprised how this helped the nasal and bronchial passages be more free of congestion.
