Servicing my blog

Judy and I are enjoying a beer yesterday afternoon, since we showed up to see our movie an hour too early. I looked at the schedule on Sunday and neglected to look to see what the time would be on Monday! So, we were forced to find something to do for an hour before seeing Monsieur Lazhar, a French movie that garnered great reviews. That's the Pickford Theater across the street in the picture, where we go to see many independent and foreign movies. My favorite theater in Bellingham.

I read an interesting post by a friend about the need to service one's blog. I almost always write at least three posts a week here, and because I went skydiving on Saturday, Mother's Day was on Sunday, and life got in the way; I missed one over the weekend. It weighed on me, but there was nothing I could think of to write about that would be of interest both to me and to my readers, so I let it go.

Today I will come home from the gym and take my next-door neighbor to the grocery store. She doesn't drive and once a month after she gets her Social Security check, I sit at the store with a book and wait while she shops. She has tons of coupons and it usually ends up being a couple of hours before I get back home. Thinking about when I might write a post here, I decided to get a quick one up before I head out the door at 7:00am. Everything is done except for brushing my teeth. The birds are fed, the sun is continuing to shine for the sixth day in a row, making it feel like midsummer here, not spring. I'm not complaining, everyone is in immoderately good moods everywhere I go. It's a beautiful time of year!

Now, it's time to dash off and begin (or continue) my sunny day! I hope wherever you are, it's a beautiful day, too!
:-)

  2. I haven't posted in a while because I can't think of anything worth reading. The sun is wonderful but it won't be many days until I'll want a rain day. I panic if I think things are getting on the dry side.

  5. Sometimes a little visit like this is more than adequate.
I hope you enjoy your day and don't bet yourself up because you didn't post on "your self imposed" schedule.

  6. You are sweet and kind, taking your neighbor to the store, my husband of nearly 40 years goes to the library and fetches me from one store, the next store i run in and out and the next day I walk to a mostly produce place and walk home early it is a hassle, food is relative reasonable in Vancouver washington, but not gasoline..So I bike it, bus it and generally watch where and how far..I love your blog, our only child lived in Bham as she called it graduated from WWU loved the area, went to seattle worked for 5 years, then to NYC and flies all over she misses it so much here she comes out a lot and we take amtrak up to seattle and spend some weeks with her..Your blog reminds me of the teachers she had at WWU women who hiked, biked and generally were outdoors a lot..here in Vancouver washington not soo much, we hope to retire to colorful colorado where most people are outside 24/7 and 365 hiking, biking because of the over 300 plus days of sushine, blue skies and dry dry weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I have the a/c on because of the humidity (not the 81 degree heat). It is perpetual summer here in Hawaii. Yeah, I wondered when your next post would happen, and kept clicking on your blog in my favorites list, expecting to see something. Lol. What a creature of habit I am.

  8. What is "Servicing a blog"? - have not heard that expression and am curious. Great photo of you and your friend DJan - You are very generous and kind to take the time and patiently wait while your neighbour shops and uses her coupons. That is just sweet, but then, isn't that just YOU.
I wish we had a movie theatre here - there is one across in Calais, Maine - however not in the best of shape and kinda run down I usually wait till we go to Saint John (city) and all kinds of choices there. I must say though, the kids at our local High School put on a movie night once a month to earn money, so that is always an option, depending on what is playing. I just go to Netflix and choose a movie.
We have had several days of rain here and actually got a lot of gardening finished up today - good day for planting. We went to the beach and collected a whack of slab stone and built a small wall around the garden for my Phlox. Can't wait for them to grow now :) ttyl

  14. Going out the door at 7:00 a.m.? Bear is rarely awake at that hour. Even though the sunshine starts about 5:00 a.m. Your enthusiasm for life in commendable. Surely you will get your reward.

Taking the neighbour to the store is such a kind thing to do.

    Blessings and Bear hugs.

  15. You look stunning in the purple and blue combination. And the smiles are contagious. Sunny days...six days in a row...that's unusual I assume? Around here it'd be just the opposite...six days in a row withOUT sun.

So, what was the movie like?

Oh, and you're very kind to help your friend out and take her shopping!!!! Kudos to you.

  18. Dear DJan, . . . today I read Rita's posting and told her that I"m always contented after visiting her blog; then I read Penny's post and told her I was always at peace when I read what she wrote; with your posting I'm always amazed at the life you have sculpted for yourself in Bellingham. A rich, full life among friends you've made there. So I feel your blog is a true blessing in my life because it helps me place so much in perspective.

    Peace.
